How do you deal with nosey taxi drivers
« on: 21 March 2021, 02:16:02 pm »
Hey all

I don’t drive ..  I live in a small town what doesn’t  have a  decent train station so I have to order taxis.. my taxi journeys are always long journeys  and easy cost me £35 for one way.. I feel as I live in a small town the taxi drivers know my business it’s awkward and embarrassing.. they always wanting to make small talk asking personal questions what I don’t want to answer and flirting.. one even asked me if I wanted to go for food with him.. saying how nice I look etc..I hate this as I have a full day  of working dealing with clients, last thing I need is to have to deal with flirty taxi drivers before I have even got to work to do my incall meets ..  it’s got to the point I dread the taxi journeys more than my job

Does anyone who orders taxis to get to meets/hotels feel this way.. if so how do you cope in these situations
Many thanks
Xxxxx

Wear headphones and don't engage with the driver - you don't owe them conversation.

For this very reason I only call one trusted taxi driver whenever I need a lift. I never call a random one as they are just too nosey!

I once had one pick me up from a golf resort at 4am, I was dressed up nice but still it’s none of his business what I am doing! His job is to drop me home, nothing more. The next day I had an unsaved number call my personal phone (barely anyone has my number so was a bit spooked) and it was the taxi driver from the night before asking if I’m ‘working’ today and if he can come and see me!

Barbiegirl did the taxi driver find your escort advert online? Or assume you was a hooker? If he assumed and called you that is so so out of order.

I’m sorry you had to experience that.. it’s not fair when we’re paying for a service.. you don’t get hounded by the train ticket man on a train.. or on a plane.. it can be  expensive taxis  and really they should know better than to act this way toward women.. I have tried to put my head phones in the past when I been in the taxis,  but it don’t work the drivers  don’t get the hint..

I actually have bad anxiety dreading what driver I will get.. I might Aswell wear a badge saying sex worker on my coat as they all know I do the job as it’s a tiny town I live in.. Some taxi drivers are  probably deep down in their  heads are  fantasising that they are  in a scene of fake taxi Porno ha., getting there rocks off knowing they taking a sex worker to meets.. knocks me sick having to justify myself with fake answers.. when I’m paying a decent fair to feel terrible before my day has even began..

Are there any women drivers? Can you ask for one?

This behaviour is totally unacceptable.

John Worboys comes to mind.

My brother in law is a taxi driver and he's a creep too  ::)

Hey sorry you have to deal with this.
Next time they try to engage in convo just be blunt. You have to be assertive so they know their place. Just pretend to be texting and if they engage in convo say sorry you’re busy working give them a quick answer and go back to your phone. Don’t be overly friendly or feel like you owe them a convo because you do not! Xx
If any make you especially uncomfortable note down their plate and next time request to not have this particular driver when you next ask.

Assumed. Wasn’t dressed like a trollop but was wearing a nice dress, coat with designer items late at night. Had booked with my personal number as well  :FF I should really ring the base to complain about him

Yes i would have certainly made a complaint about him that is so rude. You might have been leaving a boyfriend at the hotel after an argument or just decided to go early.

I would 100% make a complaint about him, but that's just me.
If I had to get Taxis myself, I have a couple of 'nurse/care assistant' overalls and I would bung on a random lanyard, a pair of double-glazed specs ("that I need anyway 🤓) a pair of earphones and bury myself in the back corner directly behind him.

Pretty bloody ridiculous we have to even have this conversation, no matter how we earn a living  >:(
