I need advice on starting out
« on: 03 July 2013, 11:31:35 pm »
Hi, im am just looking for somw advice. I was looking to get into the ecort industry and have been thinking about it for a while. I am in a lot of debt, and a student. My student finace has depleted and I have nothing until september. Im a single mother and would be looking to go to areas im not associate with. The issue is that I have limited time in which i will be available for services. I would only be looking to start out doing only two days a week a couple of hours during the day. I dont know anyone in the industry or how to get started and would like to personally meet someone with experience. Is there any advice you can give me?

^^^^^ What Daisy said.  Remember we all had to start somewhere.  The advice Daisy has given is spot on.

Everyone will help you as much as they can but as the saying goes "help" means you do the work and others will assist.

There are no shortcuts in this business.  We all have to start at square one and work our way up.  Having a look over some of the profiles on Adultwork may help you decide what services you wish to offer and you can build your profile up from there, one step at a time.

The only thing I can add is that, please realise restricted hours will mean restricted bookings and things may not move as fast as you  would like, but patience is a virtue that us WGs have to learn to have.

Use the time you have spare to read through the different threads and it may help you further.  Like Daisy says, perhaps working in a parlour would help you in the beginning and then you can move on to working independently when you have a little money in your purse.

Good Luck and welcome to SAAFE.

Thank you for the replies. I have been doing research extensively all week and i do believe its best to start in a agency. I am sure i want to do this but extremely nervous. Also worried because looking at profiles on different sites and theres things they do i havent even heard of. I do see myself starting out as quite vanilla. Anyway thanks for the advice ladies

Danija, don't worry re the nerves.  I was in my 50's with a lot of notches on my bedpost when i started and I was still nervous.  It's a human feeling.  At least you are not flat lining  ::)
