A reminder for all - COUNT your cash!
« on: 14 August 2010, 06:11:26 pm »
I've just returned from an overnight a few towns over, where I was handed my fee in a folded wodge and put it in my bag thinking it didn't look like quite enough (I was not in an appropriate place to check it at the time).

Upon counting it, it was EXACTLY two hundred pounds short, and whilst my client apologised profusely and soon 'found' the remainder in his bag, if I had not done this I would have got home after a three and a half hour journey to find I was missing a quarter 0f my fee. It could have been an honest mistake or it could have been someone taking a chance to see whether he'd get away with it, but either way I would stood little chance of getting my hands on the balance once I'd left.

So once again (and I know it's been said before), but ladies, PLEASE don't just look flushed and hurriedly stuff money/envelopes in some drawer or bag without looking at it. Never be afraid to count it, and make sure you do so before anybody has their kecks off  :).

Hmm sounds fishy, you must feel very pleased with yourself  :) it really would have been awful after such a long trip to realise that he had underpaid you, I suspect you would have needed a punching bag!

I always check. No one has ever tried to short change me until last week when the client attempted to pay me by giving me his phone, or writing me a check! Needless to say I sent him to get cash and he didn't come back.

Cheeky Blighter.

Well done Amy.
I'll remember this the next time I feel embarrassment as I count out the notes in front of a Client.

Some don't make it easy when they comment, " No need to check, it's all there!" and as I'm sure other ladies have said, I just smile sweetly and reply, " I don't want you to have OVERpaid me do I??"

And on the same subject, I hate it when they grumble,  "Right, lets get this horrible bit out of the way then"
I mean, as if I would be there anyway if it wasn't precisely for* THIS BIT*!!
A regular said this to me the other day to which I replied, " How would you feel if I came down your stairs after changing into my outfit of YOUR choice, armed with my bag of toys and tricks, about to give you the service you seek me out for week after week and just moaned, " Right, lets just get this bit over with then so I can get away as soon as I can get you off.."
 Enough said. ;)

I am and will always be vigilant about payment in full UP FRONT and will not give so much as a kiss on the cheek until I ascertain that. Not happened so far being shortchanged, although I suppose something like this is bound to happen sometime down the line. I worry that if and when it does that things will get ugly - I'm very paranoid about money now when it comes to men so I hope I don't snap or something if I find he's shorted me. It would feel as if I'm being devalued and that would outrage me.

I won't let anybody make me feel guilty or weird or dirty about the money. After all they're not paying for nonplatonic company.

I find it suspicious that the guy shorted you by a sizable chunk - funny how when these sort of 'mistakes' occur it seems to happen by way of the recepient getting shortchanged rather then given overpayment. Sorry, going a bit on a tangent but I'd be interested to know on the flip side if it's commonplace enough for the clients to err in giving way over the stated rate. I don't mean being their being deliberately generous, but as a mistake.
Gentlemen, start your engines.

I thought that too, and the fact that it was a nice round number (and not quite enough to make it really obvious that some was missing on handover unless you were used to sizing up largish payments on sight) would seem to kibosh the idea that a bit of the wad just fell off and slipped into another bit of the bag by accident.

I have been overpaid a handful of times (usually by rounding the ?130 or ?250 up to the nearest twenty), once by fifty quid but when I went to give it back I was told it was a tip and intended for me. I have NEVER been 'accidentally' overpaid by two hundred notes, funnily enough.

I always count the cash infront of the client, and if questioned or told "It's all there!" I just tell them "Anyone can make a mistake!" I have occasionally been overpaid, usually only by ?10 or ?20, but it shows that some are genuine mistakes and can go either way, so I don't assume a gentleman is deliberately underpaying me if it isn't right.

However, I reckon it's quite a feat to miscount by ?200!

Beware also of the ?10 sandwich, i.e. tenners that hade twenties on the outside, and the correct number of notes as though you'd been paid in twenties.  This doesn't happen often, but is worth watching out for.

Also consider getting a fake note-detecting pen! Then you can feel a bit like a detective, too. Or maybe that's just me.

I count in the bathroom. A few clients have looked at me oddly when I've counted in front of them, so I just excuse myself to freshen up in the bathroom after getting the money, turn the faucet on, and count.

That's up to you, CSS but be prepared for the day when you get shorted, point it out and then can't prove you haven't pocketed/hidden a bit yourself and are trying your luck.

LOL, exactly! You have to count it right in front of his face. Going to the bathroom and saying, "you shorted me" sounds like a scam and he'd probably push you down, overpower you, and take the money back and high-tail it out of there. Thats an extreme case, but you never know.

I made a thread about being shorted by $50 the other day...but I just couldn't bring myself to fuss about it as not only did we not have sex, but neither of us got undressed! It was the wierdest booking ever...But a true 'companionship only' booking I've ever had. Regardless, it still sucks to be shorted

I always count the cash in front of the client, i couldn't give a tinkers toss if it does offend them quite frankly. Most clients wouldn't dream of shorting you but you do get the odd berk who will give it a try. Sometimes i don't even think its to save cash, they just want to see if they can get one over on you. For example ages ago i had an hour booking with a guy id never seen before. I asked for the cash upfront and he looked a bit miffed, he handed it too me folded over in the middle and looked horrified when i started to count it. Bang in the middle where the last ?10 should have been there was a?5 note instead! :o i said that it was ?5 short and he actually had the nerve to say 'I thought you charged ?105 for the hour' Yes sir I'm sure you did ::)

He then went on to say that it didn't matter he would pop out after the booking was finished. I then had the great joy of telling him he would go and get me the ?5 first. Which he did and i still finished the booking at the original time it was supposed to end just to teach the sneaky bugger a lesson.

I know some ladies will take the cash at the end of the session if a client has become a regular. I never do personally as no matter how well you think you know them there is always, in my mind, that off chance that they will try and pull a fast one one day.

simone is so right!

when i first started escorting i was really young and very niave. I used to be extremely nervous about possibly offending clients and always let them have the upper hand of situations as i was too timid to speak up.
I never took money at the beginning of bookings and would wait for them to mention it. And i would NEVER count it.
I was short changed by about 10 different guys, usually just for ?5 or ?10 but now that im that little bit older and wiser i understand that it doesnt matter if its only ?5. It's all down to principles.
If you went to the cinema and handed over ?10 instead of ?20 for some ?18 tickets you would be told immediately that you hadnt given the correct amount and wouldnt be getting the tickets unless you coughed up the difference.
Why should it be any different for the service we offer?

I always ask for he money within the first 5 minutes of the booking and I always count it infront of them and make a little joke out of it by saying "just checking its the right amount because some poor guy over paid me by ?20 yesterday by mistake so from now on im going to double check everytime im paid".
