Well I've been whoring for a few months in Edinburgh, part time as an indie as I'm just about to graduate, and well, I pretty much love it. It would be at this point I suppose that most people would consider quitting the game in pursuit of a new found career in the same area (or not) as there aforementioned degree. But, I'm not.
Without giving too much away, my chosen subject is quite unique and is the kind of career that you become self employed from, not apply for in the Evening News and work up a ladder for 10 years. It is going to give me a lot of flexibility in terms of the life I can lead and the pace I live it at. It's also something that I will spend the rest of my life learning about and sadly, in Edinburgh or Scotland there is not a huge amount of scope to do that past my existing level.
Anyway... Because I am quite a unique charecter in Edinburgh being a YOUNG BBW, business is not perhaps as happening as it is for my slimmer, blonder counterparts. This might sound a little odd but I don't feel I taking my escorting to the level I would like to. Sure, I have regulars, I meet a nice bunch of gentlemen but not nearly the quantity I would like to.
So I've been thinking. About moving down to London Town. I can continue on with learning new skills as there is a big availability down there and my hope is escorting down there would be busier too. I'd be moving down with my boyfriend who I already live with and knows I escort.
My questions are these...
I live in a very respectable and central area in Edinburgh where I pay ?800 a month for a very bijou 2 bed flat. I know I'm dreaming if I think I could get something similar down in London but what kind of price WOULD I be looking for? I'd be using this flat for incalls aswell so It would need to be somewhere quite nice and not too nosey neighbour esque. Recommendations for areas?
Secondly: Am I just being too bloody flighty and thinking life is greener on the otherside? I do have a good standard of living in Edinburgh but it just feels too small...
Thoughts please....

In terms of prices of flats, the London ladies can help you there, but I don't think you will get a closet for 800 a month. Why not try a tour? The UK is a large place, before upping sticks, travel around and see what is out there. I mean just in Scotland alone, there is Dundee, Inverness, Glasgow, Perth, just to name a few.

I regularly glare and frown at the rental markets of Central London and from my reckonings, 800 per month will get you a compact studio flat in the W1 area (super central). There are plenty of handy areas in South London or East London, still in say zone 2 (see a tube map!) where 800 should get you at least a 1-bed place in a quieter area - I don't have any experience offering incalls outside W1, though, so no idea if being in SE1 or E3 etc would impact business a lot or at all. On the other hand... if you're really looking to live in a 'nice' area (South Ken? Some bits of Islington? Bloomsbury?), you're going to need ?1500+ for a roomy 1-bed or decent 2-bed in a pleasant environment. Don't ask me about council tax etc on top of that, I think I'd faint dead away if I found out.
One thing I do know from experience is that high rent means quite a bit of pressure to earn enough every month and this can be vaguely unpleasant when self-employed. I've actually had a few daydreams about moving up to Edinburgh (it being so beautiful and fun the few times I've visited) in order to be able to relax a bit more and not worry about money so much - maybe we could do a house-swap. ;D
Overall, well, I dunno. I miss space and relaxation and being able to afford nice things. But it's easy to get a bit addicted to London and how important everyone who lives here thinks it is. :P Would it seem worthwhile to you to maybe plan for a year with the option to go back if it doesn't suit you, rather than planning a permanent relocation? Or Violette's idea of touring is something I keep mulling over, too. Splash out on a week's accommodation in a lovely place where you can take bookings to cover your costs, or at least keep them down, and still have plenty of time to roam around and test a new city out.

I'm in SW London, and while rents are fairly high in my local area, if you're willing to live a mile or 2 (or more) further away from Central London, the rents generally go down. The great thing about London is that most non-central areas have excellent transport links to West End & Central London and also going the other way (ie: I can be in Gatwick within 30 minutes, and Brighton in 50 mins!).
If you need more income to cover rent on your chosen 2-bed dwelling is to let out your spare room (on a per day/hour basis) to other WGs - if you moved near me I would be interested ;D
