Dear SAAFE members,
my name is Susann Huschke, I am the lead researcher for a study on sex work and trafficking in Northern Ireland. The study was commissioned by the Department of Justice in light of the recent debates about criminalising clients (similar to discussions in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland).
One of the critiques voiced in the debate was that there is very little data available on sex work and the relationship between the sex industry and trafficking in Northern Ireland. That's where we come in: the aim of the study is to get an understanding of sex work in NI and across the British Isles, which will then inform future policy. Please let me know if you have any additional questions about who we are, what we're doing and why we're doing it.
There is two ways of taking part: a) face-to-face interviews and b) an online survey. While the interviews are for people who sell (or buy) sex in NI, the survey is open to anyone across the British Isles.
This is an opportunity for sex workers to have their voice heard and inform the policy makers in Northern Ireland. The more people take part, the better the study! The online survey has been going slow, and we would really appreciate your support.
