Title: The bill to make prozzying illegal NI.
Post by: meetingdiversity on 20 October 2014, 09:22:54 am
If they make it illegal to escort in Northern Ireland will it stop others from doing?. My guess is it will stop some clients coming out of fear of being prosecuted. One option is to move but still they are even working on it the Republic. So that is why that researcher wanted others input not to help. I am glad I never did as when it does the police already have some prozzies faces to see if they can charge their clients.

So Northern Ireland's assembly has agreed to pass the law criminalising purchasing of sex

What's your opinion on this?

Ah, the Nordic model.

This very setup is used in Norway as well. In practice it makes it much harder to get personal info for screening out of people, screws over the new girls and redirects most of the traffic to established workers who are not afraid of being recognized. Expect the paranoia level of the customers to go way up.

I think it sad that such a large number voted it through. Instead of focusing on independent escorts, they should be focusing on traffickers. I hope this remains in N.I and doesn't come to the rest of the U.K. N.I seem to be in a world of their own, so hopefully not.

I wont stop working but will adapt my working ways.  Although be interesting to see how this may affect the bad side of our trade, the look and goes won't be so keen, robbers etc.  journalists pretending to be clients.

My main concern is other working girls tbh.  We all know clients gossip about where this and that girl stays to other girls who may just phone up police with our addresses.  Especially the hidden agencies and the pimps.

So how does this law work? Is the client the one prosecuted or the sex worker or both?

If they are using the Nordic model, it's just the customer that's prosecuted.
