punternet
« on: 27 September 2012, 07:52:36 am »
I'm a journalist (here's some of my work http://www.kernelmag.com/author/jeremy-wilson/ ) writing an article about the website www. punternet.com. Specifically I am looking at what effect banning punternet and sites like it (as has been mooted in the past by a senior politician) would have on sex workers - would it force them into soliciting work in a way that would leave them more open to abuse and exploitation? And more generally does punternet promote "better understanding between customers and ladies" as it promises?

I would be grateful if anyone would like to share their thoughts on the subject (on or off the record).

Thanks, Jeremy.

Jeremy, a non-specific discussion around online advertising generally is fine, but we're not here to rate, advertise or recommend named directories here. Can members please keep it general, and also remember that this is an advertising resource being discussed, and not the forum.

Plus, see the attitude of the website's owner, Milo Yiannopoulos:

Quote
On 18 July 2012, Yiannopoulos had a public argument on Twitter with Zoe Margolis, author of The Girl with a One Track Mind. He commented: "We write about how tech is changing the world around us. You write about how many cocks you've sucked this week. Back off." and later added: "Is there a difference between writing about sex for money and having sex for money? Not really. What a grubby, humiliating way to make rent."

(Source Wikipedia, but the original tweets aren't difficult to find. Highlighting mine.)

As to answering the actual question :) those who moot such thoughts do so for the same three reasons that some people say that 'a disproportionate obsession with purely academic or abstract matter indicates a retreat from the problems of real life' in Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Needless to say, Milo's opinions aren't mine. I will be writing at length about the 'Field Report' section and the forums - it is the reviewing in particular that some charities and politicians find objectionable, yet escorts I have spoken to say it is this service that is most useful to them.

And equally needless to say, since I've said it already, we will not be discussing either named punting forums or specific directories on here. There are a multitude on online advertising resources, and the same general differences apply between online and other forms of advertising/finding clients no matter which one is being used.

Plus if you want a view on a specific advertising site and forum why not ask there where you can be sure everyone is a member as not all women in this industry ever bother with joining these forums or even allow field reports on themselves.  Its just my opinion but if I wanted to find out the views of a certain place then I would ask on there
