Just to let you know that I can now give some preliminary results from the survey. In total I received 635 responses , 483 of which I deemed valid and complete. This was made up of 298 females (62%) 155 Males (32%) and 29 (6%) Trans/other. Of these, 39% report as hetero/straight, 21.6% as lesbian/gay and 36.4% as bisexual (with 41% of female respondents reporting as bisexual). Over half of the responses were from the UK, with many others form the USA, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
The survey responses suggest some interesting differences that seem to be related to gender and sexuality, but it wouldn?t be methodologically sound to publicise these as yet as I wouldn?t want to jeopardise the validity of the data that I collect from participants who have kindly agreed to take part in follow up interviews.
Clearly I haven?t been able to thank those who took part in the survey unless they left their email address for interview purposes as the survey was anonymous, but I am certainly very grateful for their input.
I am looking forward to meeting those men and women who have agreed to be interviewed over the summer and hope to be able to report back with more substantial findings from the research by the end of the year. I will also notify of any publicaitons relating to the research findings. If anyone would like to know anything more about the research or survey results in the meantime, please do email me directly at suzannejenkins@academic-survey.co.uk.
All the best for now, Suzanne.
