Title: Documentary - Request to hire a bedroom
Post by: AMR2015 on 15 January 2015, 11:50:27 am
Hello, I hope you are well.

I'm making a short documentary about male experiences of paying for sex. The film is ten minutes in length and is made up of three separate stories.

I'm looking to hire a bedroom for an hour from where sex is sold. I'd like to film a sex worker's bedroom without them in it over my own because it's authentic. The location would of course remain anonymous, you would not need to appear on camera or be mentioned in any way, and I could film at a time convenient for you. To reiterate, this would be in exchange for a fee.

If this is something that you might consider, please drop me a line at amr.russell@gmail.com. I'll happily answer any questions that you have about the film, and about myself.

This is fairly urgent so if you're interested please drop me a line at your earliest convenience.

Best wishes,

Alice

Can you post details of the production company you are working for and whether this is for television (and if so which channel), please?

Also a contact email that links to it, given that all the people potentially letting you into their workplaces currently have to go on is a free Gmail address anyone could have knocked up ten minutes ago?

Most hotel rooms in most chains will have been a venue for paid sex at one point or another...

If you want to do that, I am sure that people can give specific rooms in specific hotels for any particular area you are considering doing this in if you want a guaranteed genuine venue. You can then book it yourself and have as much time as you like there.

One option would be to invite some of the men who's stories you are using to come there for added authenticity.

Hi Amy, Yes of course - the production company is called Fat Rat Films [link removed].

I'm a freelancer working in conjunction with Fat Rat Films which is why I initially posted my personal email address. If it would make you feel more comfortable please do email them directly and then they can pass it on to me, or feel free to email both - production@fatratfilms.co.uk.

Hello xw5 - thank you for the suggestion. That's a good idea and if I don't have any luck then I will try that option. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

xw5 - regarding your helpful suggestion earlier - how would I go about finding which rooms in hotels have been used for sex work? I'm particularly interested in the Baker Street area. Should I post another thread?

No, we can point people to this if they haven't already seen it, and they can email you.

Although you won't know exactly when the room was used, that it was used for this should remain confidential from the hotel - while some places very pointedly turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, others will make people's lives harder if it's drawn to their attention.

I wouldn't need to know exactly when it was used. And yes of course, I wouldn't reveal that to the hotel. Thank you.
