Title: Artist blacksmith artwork survey!
Post by: JoshuaFincher on 17 February 2020, 04:53:19 pm
Hi!
My name is Joshua Fincher, and I'm studying at Hereford college of arts for my BA in artist blacksmithing.

I'm looking to create a piece of artwork around the sex work industry, and have created a survey to help with that.

I'd be very thankful if you could spare some time and fill it in.

It should take about five minutes, and is totally anonymous.

All information treated confidentially.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Many thanks,
Joshua Fincher.

I've moved this here as it's a better fit.

You might want to say where the survey is...

Thank you very much for moving it - like an idiot, I didn't include the link, so here it is, I have also edited the post above to include it.

Apart from the way that you're doing blacksmithing and knives can be part of that..

.. why knives?

That was my thought too. They have no relevance to sex work. Well unless you made a knife or sword in the shape of a dick.

Fair question!

So as well as an artist blacksmith, I'm also a learning bladesmith. In the piece that I'm researching to make, I'm trying to combine two ideas. Firstly of the superstition of knives where you give a knife, get a penny, lest it cut the friendship - secondly that of sex workers, building the piece specifically around the themes of sex work, letting people take a "coin", not only referencing the knife superstition, but also a sex work transaction.

Obviously that may not be possible - there may not be enough of a link or a grabbing factor, but that's why I thought a survey would be a good idea!

Thank you so much for filling out the survey, and I hope that's a satisfactory answer to your question!
