You wont get a laugh reading it.  Yes some valid points made by some non judgemental people but the rest is all we are forced, we are abused by men, we are the cause of women being raped, blah blah blah blah.    I got half way through and just gave up

The article does have as its theme that its about time this kind of judgement on prostitutes/the way they are portrayed ended.   It does quote people who have the same old stereotypical viewpoints but does not condone these arguements.

As to the comments you are always going to get a load of bigots wanting to stir up things, but I thought it great to see some of the reasoned (and reasonable) comments on there.

Nmeless they were talking about the comments not the actual article.  The article itself was ok its the comments that although around half were on side the other half were pious idiots with no clue to real life what so ever.

They really belive that making this job illegal will help trafficked girls???  They dont realise it would just mean more of them.  supply and demand.  Most escorts would stop work so it would really only be the forced girls working if it was illegal yet they cannot see that at all.  It was when the rape comments came in on the 2nd page that I just stopped reading.

Ok I thought you were talking about the actual article Dani.  There are plenty unfortunately who beleive the media portrayals of prostitution as being all about force/trafficking and they are NEVER going to believe the boring truth that most of us work for economic reasons and are independent.

You can't control the comments of these people who either want to help us 'poor victims' or see us as morally corrupt.

But personally I just thought it refreshing to actually see an article that challenged some of the myths of prostitution

Hmm just read the article and the comments. I HATE the word prostitute. Whenever you say it, your minds eye pictures some poor, wretched woman loitering the streets and alley ways looking to please some scuzzy man for a quick fix. THAT, in my eyes, is a prostitute. And I think the reason for this is because of the way we are bought up in society. I like to think of myself as an entertainer of sorts (lol) and I LOVE what I do, so why is there such a stigma about it?! No-one forced me, no-one rapes me, I have no pimp, no madam and so on. In my eyes I am a self employed woman doing a job that I love and making my clients happy is what I enjoy! To be honest the majority of what I read about this line of work is BS!x

"Marriage continues to be considered to veil sex with respectability, whatever its financial motivations. Nobody campaigns against the career courtesans who are Belgravia bankers' wives, or the footballers' consorts of Cheshire. The message: sex for money is fine ? just put a ring on it before you put out..."

Exaaaaactly. As far as I'm aware they are having sex in exchange for money too, thus engaging in prostitution.
Mornings were made for sleeping, wild sex and bacon.
