Hi Folks,
Some of you will have seen this in the media, the 'All Party Parliamentary Group on Prostitution and the Global Sex Trade' announced that they were having an 'inquiry. It is important to note that this group has not been tasked by the government nor does it have the same status as a select committee. APPG's are cross party groups that come together on a range of shared interests. This group did a previous 'inquiry' which produced a report 'Shifting the Burden' which recommended the criminalisation of customers, so they have a particular position. They are Chaired by Gavin Shuker a Labour MP. Anyway they have brought into the media term 'pop up brothel' and have announced this 'inquiry' and made a call. Their questions are revealing they are looking particularly at inks to 'organised crime' and 'sexual expoitation'. It is very doubtful that they will look at evidence with an open mind but they have made a call for submissions and anyone can put in a submission, based around their questions which are a bit leading shall we say. The deadline is 18th December 2018 you can read about how to submit evidence www.appgprostitution.uk/inquiry/
There was some critical reporting for example a piece by Frankie Mullen in Comment is Free in the Guardian last week. theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/oct/26/pop-up-brothels-inquiry-one-sided-sex-workers-criminalisation-nordic-model
