Participation call-out for SWOU 2013 & film festival!

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: the first Scottish Sex Worker Open University!

The very first Scottish Sex Worker Open University will be held in Scotland (locations to be confirmed) early April 2013. This is a call out for workshop proposals! We are looking for workshops ranging from DIY skills-sharing and academic presentations, to performance pieces, art exhibitions, and discussion-spaces.

We are very interested in workshop proposals that come from current or former sex workers, from any sector of the industry. We are also particularly interested in workshops that will be of immediate practical use to sex workers in Scotland, whether that's in terms of health, violence, mental health, the law, media-training, business-building (BDSM, massage, striptease, marketing), or more effectively standing up for ourselves against stigma/the nordic model/repressive regulations...)

(We are hoping to be able to pay some, if not all transport expenses and will do our best to find local accommodation.)

If you are interested in delivering a workshop at the first Scottish SWOU or have any question for the organising team, please get in touch via contact.swou@gmail.com.
Please read through our website: www.sexworkeropenuniversity.com to get to know us a little bit first!

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: THE VERY FIRST GLASGOW SEX WORKER FILM FESTIVAL.

The inaugural Glasgow film festival of sex work will take place during SWOU Scotland in April 2012.
We, sex workers around the world, have been organising and fighting for many years to end stigma, violence and discrimination against us. As our voice grow louder and our demands slowly begin to be recognised, documentaries, fiction, and short movies are being made that document and represent those struggles

In this spirit, Sex Worker Open University is proud to announce the inaugural Scottish film festival of sex work which will take place in April 2013, location to be confirmed.

This is the call for submissions! We welcome films of any length or genre, representing the diversity of sex workers' lives and experiences, and more specifically films representing the struggles of sex workers for the recognition of their human, civil and labour rights!

We particularly welcome films made by sex workers themselves. We are also particularly interested in films made by or dealing with sex workers who experience multiple forms of marginalisation, for example through the intersection of sex work with sexuality, race, or gender identity.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS THE 1st of February 2013.
You can contact us on contact.swou@gmail.com.
We look forward to hearing from you!
