Title: What will you do when you give up working in this industry ? Inspirations ?
Post by: losthope on 30 June 2017, 07:22:50 pm
I'm not sure if this has been covered already, (sorry in advance if it has) but lately I have been thinking a lot about giving up, this was only meant to be a temporary solution to get me out of debt and to fit in with my anxiety and depression and whatever other issues prevent me from doing a normal 9-5 without being sacked or quitting.  I'm finding myself getting more and more anxious and depressed for longer periods of time and then having to thrash out work whilst Im feeling better to play catch up. I keep thinking I need to do a good 6 month stint of work with an action plan and business idea and just get out of this altogether, before I started I had anxiety and depression for years and its always affected my work sooner or later, this idea came when I was about to lose my house and was thousands in debt and I faced either bankruptcy or paying off my debt. So I decided to pay it off. The thing is my anxiety and depression has got worse, my life is almost stagnant, I don't see my friends anymore, I'm constantly worrying my family will find out what I do and I think this added to the pressure of answering the phone to Timewasters and never knowing if I'm going to get attacked or even murdered is making my nerves bad. I need some inspirational ideas, or even just to hear others plans or dreams what they would like to do when giving up this. I know I could never go back to working for someone else after this, its never worked longer than 4 years a time  in the past so I definately need to do something that will be profitable and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my work, I see lovely clients and if my family knew what I did and I didn't feel in danger I would carry on for as long as I possible,  just at this point I know its time to make a deadline to stop and need inspirational ideas and thoughts ?

This could be me as well apart from I have the civvy job. I suppose I am lucky though as I do enjoy it and I have the qualifications to do the job for life.

I'm not sure about a future plan but a friend started doing dog and cat sitting and walking a few years ago and has been really successful.

Meant to add. Thoughts are with you. Its not easy constant outing / debt worry no matter how much you enjoy the job. Best wishes

Taking some time off sounds like a good idea.

Dreams after this... enjoy the simple things in life to the max. Travel, maybe build my own business, get a small retreat somewhere quiet, scenic with good weather. Spend holidays there. Perhaps write something. Leave something behind. Not necessarily something material, do something good for someone's life. Make my own family even if it is just a partner. Enjoy life. Laugh, love, live.

The other week MD posted something . She spent time with her friend. He helped her write her cv, massaged her feet, made her tea, collected her glasses. They had a chat and a laugh. That's so romantic and perfect. That's my dream.

How about doing an evening class one night a week, to meet some new people?

Or taking out one day a week to do some volunteering, perhaps in a charity shop, or with animals or something?

Or do an Open University degree or some other qualification?

Or a little part-time job?

I did used to enjoy my old job, it was high pressure which I guess triggerred my anxiety (doesnt take much) I am great for ages then suddenly anxiety kicks in and I crumble and become unable to do anything, financially I cant afford to go back into a normal job because its time off that messes me up, when I can't go to work for a few months it just deteriorates rapidly :-[ which is why this industry has suited the financial side of things.  You know its funny because an escort that I know she wants to do the dog and cat grooming thing.

Open university sounds like a good idea, I suppose that is something that I could actually do now, whilst still working and just do it in between bookings, I would go back to volunteering with youth but I dont think its the ideal time for me to do that with my line of work, knowing my luck it would all go terribly wrong. I am defiantly going to look at open uni courses over the weekend, great idea Kay

I went back to study last year and it's the best thing I've ever done. I suffer badly with anxiety and go through spells of depression but going back to study has seen my anxiety lessen, boosted my confidence and sense of self worth. Not only that, I have an amazing support network with lecturers and new found friends. I'm probably the only student who is sad to be off for summer!

This job alone can get lolney  esp when your spending alot of time In hotels or inside. Not good for your sanity. Luckily I have another job so it keeps me sane and in touch with normality. Try doing some evening classes or make a hobby into a little part time business.

My inspiration are:
An amazing expensive wardrobe (Yes I'm shallow 😁)
Valentinos in every colour
A few more pairs of Loubs
A Rolex
And the list  goes on....

Haha jokes aside I'm saving up to buy my own house and start a little business which I can run from home. I would like to retire in a few years time without the worry of a mortgage.

I have a career as well but am leaving that soon, I am building an online business and I make things, so I only plan on escorting for another couple of years hopefully, I love it but can't deal with all the tw's and all the other shizzle that comes with it.

Yes, Meetup can be a great way to meet new people and do things you enjoy. It's a worldwide organisation where people start a group for lets say social activities(ie: nights out, walks, meals, festivals etc) gig buddy group, French language group for a small monthly fee, they are the organiser and can charge their own fees if they like and others join along the way.  There may even be a depression/anxiety support group in your area hun.  It's nice to have something to go to after you quit.  Think about what you are good at.  I too have though about pet sitting.  good luck with all your endeavours  :) mental health issues.

Good for her, that is if she wants to.  There are so many women of retirement age who are just barely eeking by.  While I would like to think I'd love to happily be lazing around a beach somewhere, I might be very grateful to have a couple of appointments every now and then, especially trusted regulars.

Also, I do believe the upper end of the market is going to expand, maybe not by lots, but it will be there.  There used to be a bit to a taboo towards the elderly and sex, but fortunately, it's starting to go away a little (thanks to the viagra ads!).   Hope that the trend continues.

I have a full time job and ive been escorting on top for nearly ten years.
i cant imagine life with out escorting, i like meeting new people the interaction etc, my civvy job is extremely stressful so i find playing very relaxing. when i do plan to leave the scene i need to find some else i enjoy and i can make extra income from.. not found that something else yet tho..

Well I have enrolled on a uni course this year (not open university but a local one) I looked at the amount of time I had to be in lectures and found that I can easily do the 8 hours a week of lectures/tutorial and still escort!
I do not think I will ever give up escorting fully but a uni course gives me mental stimulation, contact with a varied age group and also (strangely enough) allows me to apply for student finance to fund the course (pay back at 6% of anything you earn over ?21000) so I thought throw caution to the wind and go for it

Good luck with your course  :)

Oh yes you will manage 8hrs no problem, although don't forget it will be more than that as that is just the lecture time. For example my course had 18-21 hours of lecture time but the course was 35 hours per week. And I'm sure I was actually doing more than that.

So make sure you set aside some time each day for homework, essays etc.

Some interesting reading. Like many I've come into this just for the money, well the sex too I guess lol. It's not that I can't get a job, I can, eventhough my social status makes it more difficult than most, and of course being in the situation where I'm about to leave my full time job due to ill helth.

Trouble is, I need money and lots of it, more than a normal 9-5 job can provide. As a trans woman who started her 2nd transition just over 5 years ago, I need money for various types of surgery, voice feminisation, facial surgeries etc, I guess the list could go on... Who doesn't need money, right? I had my bottom surgery just over 8 months ago and I feel that now my physical body is all in the right place there's a lot of years for me to catch up on, this is where the sex comes in lol. I've been on AW for the last 3 years but wasn't until last week that I had my first physical client, the sex was great for both of us, my first time too since surgery so yeah, sex was amazing :) so I do kinda like this type of work.

But in terms of what to do when I eventually leave, let's face it, we can't look like spring chickens forever, unless we're Cher or Gladys Knight. So there comes a time when we have to give up anyway, plan for our retirements. For me I think money would be put aside for property investments/development, it's always going to be a growth market and there's always going to be a shortage of good properties and ample amounts of run down properties you can buy on the cheap at auction. Even if I don't go into property then it'll be something else that will cover my retirement and leave behind for someone else.

Thank You Caledonia. When I mentioned 8 hours I was actually meaning that I could manage to have 8 hours a week where I had not chance of working, I can then work the personal study etc into my week as I can be flexible with the time needed for this

It's very encouraging to read all the ladies plans.

I started whoring when I was in my 50's and stopped for health reasons when I was 61 so I didn't have many years to think about when I "retired".

I have never been very far away though for I still from time to time do phone chat and IM on AW and I also sell online so plenty to keep me going.

I'm now officially an OAP. I just made the lower age of 63 retrial by a few weeks so I was lucky that way.

I hope all the ladies who have posted manage to fulfil their hopes and aspirations.

TC x😀

Escorting for me is something I do for fun (genuinely) and to make extra money.

I am studying (holidays now) and I also have my own business without going into details it is in the hair and beauty industry and when I completely retire I will be focusing on getting my business even further. It is currently only online, but I wish to open a salon and expand and things!

I escort very part time and only see around 3 clients a week, I work three days on outcalls. When I do incalls I see about 4 clients in a day and space them out very well this is what keeps me "fresh" less jaded and I genuinely enjoy most of my bookings, most of my bookings are also 2 hours plus and most are regulars, I very rarely take on new clients anymore unless I 100% feel that they are genuine. Being stalked, and having a few shitty experiences mean I stick with regulars much more.

I'm currently on a break, so I can go away, work, enjoy life, and come back and hopefully provide incalls in August then back to studies in September which means I'll have less availability. The money I have made from escorting, I have saved pretty much 80% of it, I'm 23 and want to move out in the next year or so, and get my first car and I have the money for this already.
I do tend to go on holidays a lot as I love being away but apart from that I don't go out that much, and try not to shop too much lol! I used to be so bad with money when I first started and was spending it on student nights and shoes and bags, but I stopped very quickly lol!

Apart from the few shit experiences I've had I absolutely love this job and enjoy making my clients happy, it's going to be hard to fully retire but I will do very soon, and will probably keep a handful of regulars just for regular income.

I also hope all you ladies achieve everything you wish to aswell! xxx

This good to hear. I'm a late starter in terms of SW and thought that even in my 40's I was now getting too old to be considered for sexual encounters with men who might prefer the younger model. I guess with age comes a lot more experience though. Thanks for sharing, seems I've still got many many years in front of me :) x

I hope this won't sound offensive.

I strongly believe it's not all looks/age.  One client told me he had a few "grannies" and absolutely had amazing times.  Just because the society tells you what the "perfect female image" is/ought to be to be "desired" by males, men do love all sorts, even in extremes.   :)

Thanks for saying that, it's cheared me up a little tbh.

I've been overweight for a few years now, I dropped to 12st 7 in 2012 but since then it's been a real struggle to try and lose anything, I'm told it's the hormones, that they do these things to a woman etc. I'm now sticking to a diet plan that's working, having lost 13lb in the last month with another 33lb to lose to reach the above target. I'm always conscious when I'm naked, clothes tend to cover things a lot but when you're naked then I guess you're' exposed. As you say though, we shouldn't be governed, or feel that we need to be, both these negaitve stereotypes. I plan to live forever anyway so maybe one day I'll be someones "Grab a Granny."

When I reach real retirement age (state retirement) I will probably still do one or two bookings a week as long as men still want to meet me and it will give me a litte extra to spend and not lose any of my savings. Some of my regulars say they will keep seeing me as long as I am around and saying yes, so we shall see.

I will not have to start looking for civvy work and all that entails so there is a definite advantage to being an older escort!

Me too hence my earlier post.

I have toyed with the idea of opening a small business and a couple of types would suit me down to the ground but not sure I would be happy to sink my savings into something which has no guarantees. I have worked so hard to get where I am and have seen other sps lose everything by jumping head first into businesses which failed miserably and they were back to square one. Far too risky as I would not have the chances or time to gain back my savings.

The great thing about sex work is that you can keep your hand in while doing another job as well. I love combining my freelance, working from home civvy job with the odd booking.

5 grand! That sounds really expensive!

I would honestly see if you can get an apprenticeship or MNW job at Pets At Home - most of their stores do grooming and honestly I've never seen any member of staff who didn't look to be totally happy to be there!

(disclaimer: I'm a mad cat and rat lady who buys most of her supplies at PaH. Other pet stores are available!)

5k is a lot of money for no real promise of return. What you need to ask yourself is how long do you need to work in order to reclaim that money back again? Base your outlay on your projected returns. Remember also that there are a lot of start ups out there who offer these training courses, some not even worth the paper they're written on.

You might learn more from YT videos but you can also gain a lot of experience by offering free services to friends and family who have their own dogs and cats. Work up from there, see what gaps you need to fill and do what you need to do. I doubt you will need to be qualified in order to do this job, at the bare minimum you'll need public liability insurance as with any business. But as you gain more experience you can start advertising your services, go mobile with a small van etc in your local area. Ask those you did free work for to offer you some raving reviews and take it from there. A lot less hassle than paying out 5k. But once you've got to where you need to be, you might even consider offering training courses, say at about 5k a head. You'll be well minted xx

What I planned to do at the begining to what I am doing now is different. Doing things in stages is difficult it lacks me motivation some times. Luckily he builds me up.

I took a look at this online as I was astounded at the cost but its right just shy of 5k to get qualified to a city and guilds level 3 or for a vocational diploma I'm thinking like hairdressing you need the qualifications to get insurance etc. As you've pointed out though the real money is in providing the training.

Currently studying for my second degree, hoping to get in holistic nutrition, therapies and yoga. Love to have my own retreat business.

Have decided I am going to learn how to be a dog and cat groomer. Will cost 5 grand to do the course but well worth it.

Cat sitting and dog walking seem to be quite popular these days...No expensive training needed other than a love of animals and possibly the short courses some of the websites that advertise them recommend to get more business...And they certainly don't cost 5 grand to do :-)

Shall we get back to the topic? It's wandered off to the degree that I'm struggling to see the sex work link now and there are careers sites/pet care forums all over the internet already :)

I find having a focus helps thinking about all the benefits. Like improvement of overall health, properly nourishing my body. Pure happiness and living not in fear of being outed.

I mean when others ask where I met him usually if it was a client. I would lie to cover up.  So when I say tesco which is the truth I smile inside as it some normality accepted by society.

It has been two months so far with preparing, cant believed I survived some times with a lower income.

Not really planning to retire, personally. As some others said, as long as there'll be demand, I'm happy to keep working.

I've already started my exit plan, I'll probably keep doing phone lines, my bf knows it's a tidy earner for me. But after months working as an escort, and working as a pro sub part time for years prior, I'm kind of looking forward to calling a day on it.

Escorting was a good earner to get out of debt that an ex put me in, took it up when the bdsm only market plunged too far down (fuck you 50 shades of grey!). And I have the sex drive that I generally love it, but I'm looking forward to being monogamous again. My bf has been fantastic about it all, but he's not enjoyed having to fix me up after a client has gone too far.

If all goes to plan, I'll be out by 30, settled at the top of my career ladder and clean cut away from it. I'll leave it with some very fond memories, and don't regret it, but it was never going to be a long term career for me.

As the number of punters struggling to hard on with me increases it becomes nearer to the date when it's time to quit.

Most of mine are nice, some are a real pleasure to see, I've a couple who can be exasperating when it comes to wanting short notice bookings but I don't have one horrible punter maybe because my screening is way high and those types dont get past it.

Prossies making out all clients are saints lol. I'm for real. There are nice ones but because I value myself better than time wasters and weirdos wanking or sounding creepy over the phone. I see for what they are.

Many others do eventually too. I even did at the start so can understand.

It isn't normal behaviour what some clients act like all weird. You never see them during the day in society out in public for a reason lol.

I'm talking about punters who make it to bookings, not timewasters or phone wankers.

Screening and dealing with difficult situations effectively, deal with most other issues.

This 'prossie' wont accept horrible punters or bad behaviour, I've been screening them long enough and I'm too experienced for that nonsense,
My happiness and my sanity comes first and they are worth much more to me than what a horrible punter might pay me.
Money isn't everything.

No, nor this one. If the occasional punter is horrible then yes that's unfortunate and I'll curse myself that I let one slip through the net, but it's incredibly rare. If 'all' or even most of the punters I saw were horrible then I'd be looking at my screening since that's what allows them through the door and that sort of fail rate really can't be a coincidence.

I screen well thank you, just that some men touching me is the issue. Not all clients but every one assumes great job that.  :)

Might be time then to take those men off the regulars list. Honestly, no amount of money is worth me seeing a guy who makes me feel like crap, and it'll just make me perform worse with a good client. I like this job, and I'd say <95% of my clients have been absolute sweethearts, usually kinky as hell, but sweethearts none the less.

Honestly, I'll miss just hanging out with some of them when I do leave the biz.

Maybe you are right I am in my final phase of escorting they treat me with respect. It is only because I am making other civy plans I guess why like this.  I am very fussy over the phone. Thier voice tone can be declined a booking. Also thier manners are asking stupid questions or too shy to phone me etc.

Its just me going through the motions seems like.

When I leave I will be a full time massage therapist. I've got an interview this month for a year long college course. I hope I pass the interview as I have a real interest in it the good thing about being an escort and doing a massage course is there will be clients who wont mind being guinne pigs so I can get plenty of practice in before my exam  ;D I'm doing Swedish massage first then hot stone massage,  Thai bamboo massage,  and lomi lomi massage.  I'm doing the Swedish massage course at a non private college as I think it would be better to learn it over a period of time rather than a few days.  I will be offering massage as a service so I can get lots of practice in before I make the plunge and become fully self employed and because I enjoy it . I won't leave instantly after I've qualified and will be doing it part time alongside escorting.

I might be wrong, but you're probably one of the oldest, active posters (not age-wise, but the length of time you have been a member on Saafe).  Your posts do suggest you are very intelligent based on the posts, which are insightful.   As women go through the different stages of her life, her priority change.  Now, you would like to have a long-term relationship and that's important to women in her younger years (it once was to me, too).

It would be a pity not to have you on here after you quit, though.  :)

I do not find most punters horrible people on the contrary.

It is those on dating sites that seem to grate on me.

Weird huh.  That is why I get my supply from clients and not from dates lol.

When I was in my 30's I really thought I would do this forever. Thankfully I worked hard & built up a business which has meant I can semi retire at 50, doing the odd outcall here and there if I feel like it which I generally don't.  ;D

Ahhh. You're in "Notice period PMS" (pre moving syndrome!)

Whenever I've made plans to move jobs in my civvy life, and also when I was working my notice in my corporate job when starting full time sex work, everything that was a bit irritating but I could cope with, suddenly became the most annoying, nauseating thing in the world and I felt like punching people out several times a day, every day of that notice period.

It's like because you have a change on the horizon and you know there's only a few days/weeks/months left, you give yourself permission to actually acknowledge how bloody infuriated you are with whatever it is. Previously you've been suppressing your annoyance because "it's just part of the job and you have to take the rough with the smooth" - now you're on your way out and you're like "JESUS I CANNOT WAIT TO STOP DOING THIS SHIT!!"

With me it was the 17.5 hours of conference calls I was expected to attend every week, to which I probably contributed about 2 hours of actual input/output. On my last week I thought I was on mute and wasn't, and was overheard very loudly exclaiming "Sorry Bob I'm just stuck on this fucking useless con call"  :D
