I don't think it was just 'hun or babe' that the OP was concerned about, it seemed to be more his cold ignorant attitude when they were arranging the booking.

Still, I don't have the luxury of turning away guys based on tone of voice or a cold attitude.

I take bookings by phone too and not by text, but I ask clients to text to confirm too. Mainly because I might be in another booking or getting ready for a booking so might not be able to answer my phone.  A couple of times guys have called to confirm when I have specifically asked them to text. I was quite annoyed one time this happened as the client kept trying to call when I was in another booking so I did not hear his call. If he had just texted like I said I could have just texted back after my other appointment to say see you later. Instead he left a voicemail but when I listened to the voicemail I couldn't hear what he was saying. I sent a message for him to text me back and he said he called me already and he was on his way, but ended up being a no show. I think he was annoyed I had not answered the phone and had texted instead.

Another time a guy called to confirm instead of texting and I was irritated but just said, oh I thought you were just going to text to confirm. It ended up being ok that time.

If you had a funny feeling about him on top of him not following your instructions then it was good you trusted your instincts.

not so much a silly reason, but i already had my doubts about this guy

he'd text a few too many times with questions that were on my profile, so i was a gnats knacker away from cancelling him anyway when this cracker came through
"your face is familiar, i might be wrong but did you work in X company?"

i did, we were in the same team many years ago and i still  have friends who work there so THAT was strung along til the night before the booking when my period suddenly appeared.  oops, sorry i can't see you.

if he decides to text again i will be fully booked

we have to follow our guts.  had i cancelled the client when his too frequent texts were bothering me, i wouldn't have been up to high doh thinking he knows who i am.. but then again i may have accepted a booking further down the line.  we all find our own way to make the job easier and safer
