When they start querying your prices after they've parked up.
« on: 27 February 2016, 02:32:49 pm »
This guy has just parked up and texted writing is my rate 60, (the advertised rate)or 50 which would be even better. I've promptly texted with an excuse that an emergency has arised and I have to cancel. He texts back saying he has arrived. I text back saying sorry. He texts back asking if I know anyone else because his shoulder is really sore. I reply that he's unlikely to get a massage with anyone else for 50 and that my advertised rate of 60 is very reasonable. He replies that he will pay 60 and that he was only asking and honestly could not remember and could I please soon him. Just ignored him.

Am wondering if my tolerance levels are too low. Starting to wonder if it's me. Wonder if it really is an arsehole I've turned away. If he had asked is it 50 or 60 that wouldn't have annoyed me as much. (Even although my rates clear) but it's the way he wrote 50 would be better.

I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

I think he knew the rate and just stupidly thought he would have a go at haggling.I would have just said it is 60 as advertised and reminded him that you don't really appreciate haggling.I would not have made up an excuse to cancel. If he really was sat outside it might have made him rethink about last minute haggling with folk in the future.

Nope he is being a boundary pusher from the start. Doesn't deserve to see you.

Can I just clarify the bit where you say I should not have made an excuse to cancel? Are you saying I shouldn't have cancelled or are you saying I should have still cancelled but told him why? X

I wouldn't have cancelled myself, seems like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. Just tell him that rate is as stated and proceed with the meeting (unless he bails at that point).

I probably would have cancelled, but not invented an unrelated excuse. Probably something like, "I think you're right - 50 would be better for you. I wish you luck in finding another masseuse at your preferred rate."

As I said I would have told him the rates were as advertised and you were not into haggling I may have still cancelled depending on what he was like when I had said that but he would have known it was because he had tried the haggling bullcrap for sure. For me I would feel like he might think I was wasting his time for cancelling last minute rather than because he acted like a crass idiot.I prefer to be politely honest why I don't want to see someone so abit like what Fabulassie said.

I didn't even give myself time to think. He obviously knows I was talking shit because he kept texting wanting me to see him lol.

I think making a point has just cost you 60 quid. It's something I do, and it's cost me plenty over the years. You're not alone - I suspect everyone cuts their nose off to spite their face, once in a while.

We get days like this but hey that's how we manage to stay sane by getting all the d...heads out the way.
I believe that if they annoy me before the booking then its all down hill from there.
Every time I have given them the benefit of the doubt they go ahead and prove me right that I must stick to my gut instincts...

Nine out of ten that annoy me prior to booking do indeed turn out to be dickheads but there is always one in ten that end up to be the loveliest guys I've met.x

I think it is WAY MORE than about making a point. Its about maintaining our self esteem. We are worthy of the same basic respect as any other service provider.
I know I would end up feeling used and abused and having low self worth if I ever started letting hagglers or rude and disrespectful men see me. And then I  would have to stop doing this.
