I worked the chatlines prior to going into whoring.  I was very particular who knew about my job but it helped me decide who I would tell about my whoring.  In the end it was only a select few open minded friends who got told and the authorities who needed to know about my change in vocation.

Life is hard enough without putting ourselves under any more pressure.  I too do not mix with closed minded people.  If they want to judge people, they can do it with someone else but not me.

I really didn't like lying to anyone, as I despise liars myself but sometimes with self preservation it is necessary.  I found that speaking in the third person made it easier for me.

I don't think anyone that I didn't tell ever suspected but if they did they didn't say.  After all, when I turned the key in my incall apartments I was just that little old granny going out to visit a friend or something similar.

Now that I just offer online services I'm hoping all the cloak and dagger stuff has ended and I can relax a bit more.

Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

:( that's so bad, makes me feel bad for moaning about being outted. Cruel people.

Yea, i kind of just put my head down and worked today and i was like OH YEAH... THATS why i don't listen to people and carry on doing the job. Honestley, if it wasn't for the way people reacts, i would literally be so proud of my job.

If it weren't for the stigma, this wouldn't pay so well.

The money we get is partly risk pay and partly pay for being willing to sacrifice a lot of other things in order to be available for hire.

You are making a good point here Fabulassie, however, I work in Switzerland and rates here seem higher than in London (but maybe it's just my experience because London doesn't really work for me when I am touring 3-4 days, I only get regulars that I met in Switzerland) although it is legal and you get a lot of support here.

The social stigma is of course still there but I don't think it really makes a difference in what people are ready to pay for it.
Sex is sex and men will always be in need of it, and the more sophisticated ones will always want more than a simple street walker (I apologize if that sounds judgmental) and ready to pay for the difference in service and quality.

The most difficult for me is being faced with people who ask what I do for a living and then look confused when I give them a vague aswer. "Oh you know, self employed, internet stuff, very boring" blah blah

I dread my kids growing up and getting involved with someone who has parents who expect us to be inclusive in each others lives...wtf am i going to tell them..ahh you know blah blah blah lol..

I need to find something else on the side I really do  8)

Seriously, I am wondering how many of you feel they have to do this job simply because of the financial gain?
Yes, it is difficult for a man to accept a woman who does this job.
But to me it seems, it is mainly because of the social stigma.
Th disrespect of some men who think they can take advantage of you because you aren't a worthy member of our society.

My burn out always uses to start as soon people begin to judge and you feel that everyone wants to "get you out" of that terrible occupation that is damaging your mental health?while I was clearly more miserable before but not just because of the money but sexual experience which I enjoy.
What do you think?
What is really damaging to you about being a prostitute?

Every job has its pros and cons.

For me the pros are being my own boss, working as many or as little hours as I like and STILL make great money.

The cons are most definitely the living a double life and the sheer fear of being found out. Also the terrifying thought of being alone in a room with a psychopath......I am super, super choosy about who I see which many men seem to think that as a sex worker, we shouldn't be so choosy not once taking into consideration that some of us are just trying to be as safe as possible in the sex trade. I also hate the daily abuse and the regular threats that come with the job......which is why it's so important for us NOT to use cheap phones and to use a phone with a blocking facility, my life has been much easier since the iphone installed a blocking facility into their phones.

Cheap phones also have a blocking device or you can download an app.

Well no one knows what I do so I'm not having problems with social stigma.

Myself I have no moral/ethical issues since I'm not planning on escorting forever and because I simply see nothing wrong with it.

As to men who would judge me or see me as a lesser human being no, those men don't get to see me so I don't have to worry.

What I find difficult is that say once a month you get a client you really can't connect with. Of course he books 2 hours or longer. That's just a nightmare lol!!!! He will be shy, will use monosyllables and guess what he won't really want sex no, more of company...!!!! Ouch!!!!
And then the entire make up/shaving/shower/body lotions routine. I worked so much Fri and yesterday that today Im in bed with a huge migraine and I just can't be bothered doing more than brushing my teeth. I want my cotton PJ and warm socks lol!!!!

Lovely Sunday to all you ladies:) xxx

Isolation is my problem.
Sometimes after I've finished working I'll have a wee walk and see office workers etc go out socialising and I realise that this job can be really lonely.

Ditto. Talked to my grandma and she just kept asking me about me getting my cosmetology license and it hurts that I have to keep stalling her because I can't say "I can't afford to get my license"

Same here. I went on an outcall the other day at the Soho Hotel, and the bar was packed with the young, funky and beautiful, all laughing and chatting. I felt so excluded. On my way up in the lift I had this sadness, about how my life could go so tits-up.

Never judge a person's insides by their outsides: you saw a bunch of people drinking and socialising is all. I promise you that not all of them are "happy." That said, if you are unhappy with your own life then you should spend some time thinking about what you do want and make plans to get to where you want to be. And be kind to yourself about it. Nothing is gained from beating yourself up over something like this.

I, too, have had the thought of "what the Hell? This is my life?!" because I would like to be more financially secure for my age and I know that I'm where I am because of the choices I have made. However, I would not be more financially secure if I were in a normal job. I would have to go back to 1988 if I wanted to unravel all the things and decisions that have put me where I am and even then there wouldn't be my three beautiful children if I'd done things differently.
