Takes me less than this to cancel.

You know when they call you
And say something like

Hi Louise, are you about around lunch time for a half hour appointment?
I say yes, I will text you my postcode give me a call on arrival for my door number.

And then they send a text after saying "will you...insert stupid question here
This really irritates me, questions after a confirmed booking.

So, I do think you did the right thing. I hate hagglers, and wouldn't want one coming into my personal space, over the phone is bad enough!

I would have replied with my rate, I'd then decide based upon his subsequent behaviour. Many customers do try it on, can anyone here honestly say they've never tried for a lower price in another business? Ok ours is very personal, and people tend not to ask very personal businesses for lower rates, but it doesn't mean there isn't anyone who will try to be clever.

I always recommend staying professional at all times, then you can be in no doubt that you did everything expected.

I can honestly say I never have tried for a lower rate no.If I get a quote for something and I am not happy with it I look elsewhere or find a company that does it at a price I am happy with in the first place.I can not be arsed with faffing about for a tenner off or whatever or making a prat of myself by haggling.

I had one similar...I'd talked to him previously.
Him-Morning Helen I'm in BXX this morning do you have any appts and do you do 1 hour if yes how much.
Me-(Postcode given) and hour fee given.
Him-Thank you probably nearer 11.45 may I ask do you have any uniforms and toys?
Me-Uniforms and toys are not something I offer (Not listed on my profile) Do you still want to keep your appt.
Him-That's not a problem would you be able to do for $50 with sex? (He is knocking $10 off my price)
Me-Forget it I don't entertain haggling, my fee is very reasonable considering the quality of service I offer so your booking is now cancelled. No further communication Thank you.
Him-Very sorry sincere apologies
Ignored.

He feels because I don't offer uniforms and toys he can knock a tenner of my fee, if that's what he wants why not book a girl who either offers them or is in a price range he is happy to pay.
I just listed him as a piss taker and ignored.

I'm the same. Its just not the culture in this country full stop, aside from markets and such like. My feeling is if you can't afford (anything or any service) you go elsewhere. When punters try to haggle, that's it as far as I'm concerned, some have even tried it when they've seen me before. Its disrespectful and they know it. So as with any kind of boundary pushing, they don't get to see me.

I just laugh and say "nice try but nope" ( if it's not an insulting amount , I'm talking a tenner) and have always had a " can't blame a guy for trying" they laugh too and it's all fine , I assume quite a few girls say ok especially in competitive areas , if it's silly I don't answer or on a call I say nicely " keep trying I'm sure you'll find the right person for you "

I think the kind of man who tries to haggle rates is the sort of man who will show up short. Do that thing of opening their wallet and pretending to look surprised and saying 'Oh I only have ?x amount on me' and expect you to do the originally agreed time for less money!

As in if they push boundaries in one way then they are far more likely to do so in others...agreed.

I find it irritating that they think just because some girls agree we all will.  ::) I mean if I for example assumed all guys were like them (boundary pushers etc) I would be too disheartened to see anyone!

No you were right to cancel.  I have done the same in the past.   A guy turned up and text me from the car saying would I accept ?140 (I charge ?150) because he had ?160 and didn't have change.   Didn't want to tip me a tenner would rather short change me.  Not a good start to an appointment so I cancelled on him.   He went crazy sending me horrible text so I guess I made the right decision.  Hopefully it might make him think twice when booking other girls.

If you felt like cancelling and couldn't face seeing him after he'd started haggling then I guess you did the right thing. You are deciding what is good for you, and how you feel counts the most.
I would personally still see him after declining his 'offer'.
When new clients ask for a discount I do think of them as a turn off, yet don't take it personally, as they haven't tried my service, they don't know what I am like, they haven't seen me, so they are not actually asking because they think I'm not worth they money, they are just trying thier luck.
It is cheeky to ask, but some of them don't mind making a fool out of themselves in order to pay less.

In these situations I always ask myself 'is this worth the money'. If they answer is yes, I will keep it sweet and turn a blind eye on their silly questions as long as they pay my full rate.

Another thing to be wary of is that he was already in a close proximity to your house, and in this case he was just a little clown who didn't kick too much fuss about you cancelling, but had he been one of the nasty breed, he could have caused you trouble.

Wasn't close to the house. I get them to a distant landmark first where I have a clear view. They have no idea where I am. Xx
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.
