Ugh- Spots!
« on: 26 May 2011, 07:42:38 pm »
So, I've got a booking tonight. While making myself clean and purdy I noticed THREE bright red frigging spots on my arse. I am sure they weren't there yesterday!

niiiiiiiice....

Lets hope he's a tit man and not an ass man or I will be mortified!

Thanks for the sympathy, Kate.  :)

Well, of course, he was an ass man! I wasn't really surprised, my entire day has been one inconvenience after the other. Oh, well. I don't think he cared, much. So, I guess that's a bit of luck.

Crawling into bed now and so happy for it.

Hey Adamas,

I suffer from this affliction in a chronic manner. I have ever since I was a kid, sometimes the spots even turn into boils that leave scars after (gross, I know). For the most part I have keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) on my thighs, butt, and arms - some of the bumps turn red and angry, especially on my bum after I've been wearing something tight.

If this continues to be an issue for you I'd like to highly suggest using a lotion formulated with 10% glycolic acid (or more). It keeps your skin very clear and makes it feel as smooth as silk. I use the lotion on my bottom, arms and thighs and it's the only thing that keeps the spots at bay for me.

As for your clients noticing, I'd try not to worry about it too much. Honestly. I've done many rearview activities in harsh, bright lighting while suffering from spots on my bum and no one has ever said anything about it - I think people are generally more interested in the shape of your bum than anything else.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for the suggestion, Brooklyn. I'm sorry you suffer from it so badly.

I get the occasional one on my bottom, usually easily fixed. I was really annoyed about having three!

My real problem area is my face. My youth acne turned into adult acne and it is such a nightmare. I can go months with really lovely clear skin, then I get these awful spots. They last for months, and often become inflamed and swollen. I have never been able to work out any triggers, other than using a really astringent cleanser, which I try to stay way from. But, I don't have to have used something astringent on my face to have a break out. It's just a bonus.

Do you think the lotion you mentioned can be used on the face?

These ones use lactic acid which is a lot better for your face than glycolic acid based ones. I use the cream exfoliant; just slap it on, leave it for 10 minutes, wash it off and hey presto, gorgeous clean skin and pores. Never had a major breakout in 2 years. I get the odd spot but nowhere near as bad as I used to.

I've heard good things about that brand of lactic acid lotion too. At the end of the day, I think that the decision of whether to use glycolic or lactic acid is personal preference. Some believe that lactic acid is better for the face while others don't. I use glycolic acid on my face with great results, so I believe that personal experimentation is always necessary. The good thing about lactic acid is that it's a natural byproduct of human metabolism, and because it's an endogenous substance, you're less likely to react badly to it. The good thing about glycolic, on the otherhand, is that it's got the lowest molecular size so it readily penetrates the skin a bit easier. I'd recommend getting samples of both and seeing which one works best. Good luck!

Wow, thanks Penny and Brooklyn. That's great food for thought and I will look into both. Something that makes a real difference would be a god send!    :-* :-*

I'm going to have to check out these products too.  I'm forever having break outs, so this is really useful to know.  Thanks
