This is a strange job
« on: 27 July 2009, 02:01:28 am »
Now last Sunday my phone was going back to back with requests for incalls that I could not take that day. So this time around I get the baddest, nicest mini-suite (equipped with a FULL kitchen) at a killer discount in a great part of town...to not only accept bookings but to get away from my own family! And then I get not a single call this afternoon. Its ridiculous. They get me when I'm not prepared; either sleeping, working out, with the friends...but when I try to be the best I can be no one shows up. And to add injury to insult; a huge thundercloud is moving into town tonight  >:(

And then; 2 days ago I get double-booked...one person for an advanced appt who did show; but was from my 'cheaper' advertising source, but torwards the end I had a missed call from the friend of a previous client, who I was also introduced to the 2nd time he booked me...so it wasnt one of those "my friend gave me your number deals"...It was an actual referal. They are both known to book overnight sessions everytime. I was just like, oh fuck me! Nevertheless, they are regulars to the area though.

Do similar things like this happen with you also?

I don't double-book. Never have done. Because I don't want to put myself in the awkward position of letting a customer down, especially if they travelled a distance. I don't also want to be seen as timewaster. I'd rather the customer let me down than the other way around. I just make sure and save their number so it doesn't happen to me again.

But you call it a double-booking. You say one was an advanced booking who actually showed up and another was a missed call. How is that a double-booking? Did you call that person back and make arrangements? If so, what did you say to the person who had booked in advance and showed up?

I don't ever double book as I hate to let anyone down and knowing my luck if I did that they would always both show.

I can completely sympathise with the phone thing, the other night i was on the phone taking a booking through an agency (trying out indie+agency work now) an my work phone went off twice. Once I ended the call it didn't ring again and the agency booking turned out to be a no show. Often my phone will ring when I'm driving, out in public or with friends (on silent) and other times when I'm sat at home waiting - silence.

Thats life!!

I did call back, but it was on a voicemail to call back...and like I said I met this person before. It was more than 15 minutes though so I figured it'd been too long. The person who booked in advance I went to his place. The call for the other booking came in while I was at that booking, but since I left both phones in the car I didnt know. Oh well, if the missed call only wanted an hour rather than the usual overnight then I only lost 20 bucks  :-\

But I agree too...I'd rather be the one timewasted than timewasting. One thing I have finally caught onto, is a missed call is only a missed call for that moment! Punters (as y'all call them LOL) probably work escorting into their monthly or weekly finances. They will be right back around the next week, and the week after that and after that. The same ones! You could miss their calls every week for a year and they'd still be trying...until they get you. I had one guy book me on Monday, then the next Sunday he accidentally booked me again but then 'cancelled' when he realized I was the same guy on the other website! He didnt tell me that, but when I looked thru my other phone I realized it.

I do double book, but in Ireland the ratio of time wasters in quite high, so I will double book, but I also have a list of no-fail excuses that in the event two gentlemen are both on the way, I pick the appropriate excuse, and let loose. My favorite is I was in the shower getting ready for you, and didn't hear the phone(this can explain why I have kept him waiting for 15 mins). My other favorite, is I am so sorry I got locked out of the apartment and had to call the owner to come and open the door (this is good for an half hour). And the all time best one when working from hotels, house keeping is on the floor! I in all honesty do find the idea of double booking auite distasteful, but it is the market I am in, so double book it is.

You don't have to explain yourself Vi. I don't double-book but I do understand to an extent why ladies do it. And I've heard/read from other ladies how notorious timewasters are in Ireland, so I'm not suprised it's what you do.

I personally just don't like having to put myself in the position to have to lie to clients. And I can't be bothered with all the pretending and making up fibs if both clients turn up at the same time, it takes up too much unnecessary energy and I reckon it'd be a little stressful.  This is just the way I work. I'm too lazy to work any other way and I don't want/need the stress.

Now in this scenario I couldnt quite live with myself LOL. I wouldnt mind so much to doublebook if I was on the way to their house/hotel; but if they are on the way to mine...thats harsh. I have never had a client send me on a blank mission and I hope it never happens. The day it does though, I'll be sure to post his # on every message board on earth, with a dramatic story behind it e.g. I drove 100 miles and he wasnt there  :D

But isnt it equally stressful to be lied to and pretended to? Like the guy who cancelled an advanced booking with me last week; says the meeting got out early and he had to fly back to Florida. Well its funny that when he sent me the cancellation it was a direct reply to my ad online. Why couldnt he just reply to the email exchange we were already having the day before? It doesnt matter now, but it was obvious he was searching AFTER he made the booking with me.

Potential clients need to learn to do unto others as they'd want to be done. Booking a bunch of escorts at once and deciding who sounds the best, or arrives the quickest is the surest way to end up doublebooked down the line.

Once I ended the call it didn't ring again and the agency booking turned out to be a no show.

I'd been of called those other guys back. If its within 15 min. like Evie once suggested, then its ok. But you say you were already booked with the agency though...and 2 people called while you were on the phone? Thats what made it so...so, what the word I'm looking for? STRANGE!
