Yeah, but the vast majority of punters don't know anything about forums and message boards (most of mine when I'm at home have never heard of Adultwork, which gets pretty incredulous looks when I work in London and such). That doesn't mean that none of them are twats, or that none of them are nice.
There just aren't many places where punters can actually get together and do punter stuff - we can generally find a local lady to chat to on the phone or over a coffee or even on here, and we can sort out odd gettogethers and so on. I would think that most punters are completely on their own when it comes to their hobby and I don't think anybody can blame them for filing their boots when they do get an opportunity to 'meet' like minded folk. People's board personas don't necessarily reflect them in real life (apart from mine
).
Groups of people with a common interest tend to look a bit bizarre from those who don't share that interest, even if it's one that relates to them. It's not always that palatable, but the idea that all these posters are some kind of knuckle-dragging subhumans who spend their free time biting the heads off chickens and throwing their own shit around is a bit unfair - leave them to it. bless 'em. If nothing else, we've had a goodly number of threads here lately which don't exactly cover us all in glory either.
