Grooming
« on: 20 June 2010, 11:41:48 pm »
What kind of routines do you ladies do to keep in shape for work? Do you do regular manicures? Laser hair removal? Plastic surgery? Work out every day?

As for me, I hate fake nails and spray tan (they always break off or peel off on me). But I also hate shaving so I get laser hair removal. I try to work out, but don't usually manage every day.

Sorry, just saw the other post on making an effort. I guess that answers some of this, although I wasn't thinking as much about the room, more about maintaining your body in the long term.)

I shave, usually daily but every two days minimum. I have very thick, dark body hair and very pale skin so even the tiniest bit of stubble looks really bad on me, haha. I try to exfoliate my whole body daily but if I'm in a rush I'll just do my legs, and do the rest of my body a minimum of twice a week. I use a scented body butter all over, but generally avoid perfumes. Occasionally I'll wear a bit though.

I rarely paint my nails and I never wear fakes, I like having healthy, natural nails. I want to grow them long but I have to keep them fairly short because I offer massage and sometimes anal play, I'm sure you can understand why long nails aren't exactly helpful for either!

I won't touch fake tan, I think it almost always looks awful and it makes me look and feel really fake. I am so pale naturally it just doesn't look right. I have been known to use the gradual stuff occasionally, and that doesn't look bad, but I don't think it really improves me either so I don't bother.

I have just joined a gym but I'm quite lazy - I control my size through diet mostly, but to be honest I am just lucky as my body is the shape I want with minimal work. I have had plastic surgery though - my tits are fake, and they were the best investment I ever made.

I wear quite a lot of makeup, but unless I'm requested otherwise I go for natural colours. I wear my hair down and usually without product or just a little mousse for volume, I keep it it's natural colour aside from my streaks at the front.

I also have facial piercings, but that's not for the clients' benefit - most of them seem not to like them. But they put up with it :P

I go to the gym every weekday morning and murder 500 calories or so, but that's not for clients (although it's thanks to them that I can waste my mornings in such a manner ;D) it's to soothe my fears (that I'm lazy and ugly) and make me feel somewhat energised for the rest of the day (unless I do an hour on the treadmill, which instead causes exhaustion for the rest of the day). A mixed bag, really, but my bum is super-firm at least.

I get my hair done every 8-12 weeks or so as I think hairdressers are horrid and I usually treat my hair with way more care at home! But the colour's got to get done by a professional, I've had too many teenage experiences with home-colour kits. Ergh.

I shave every other day (though I'm kind enough to do armpits every day) and exfoliate and moisturise when needed.

That's it. I like to use really simple, 'wholesome' products on body, face & hair so I can use the same shampoo and conditioner as soap, shaving gel, shower gel, makeup remover, everything. It's cheaper and easier so I can spend a bit more on good makeup (minerals etc), which I try to use sparingly but as the poster above said, the Natural Look takes quite a lot of effort some days. ;D

Thanks everyone. Very helpful in seeing where I stand. LouLou puts me to shame, as do those of you who work out on the regular.

Oh yes, now I remember.

Me?Well after realising I'd 'Let myself go' - yes the very words of one or two clients even I saw the light and decided to get right back into 'fitness freak' mode. So it's up at the crack of dawn walking, cycling, swimming followed by 3-4 weight training sessions a week in the gym at around 4 or 5pm. Shave legs intimate areas every day apart from day off when I don't bother!I've a thing about feet and skin so it's lotions and potions everytime I bath/shower/swim. Shampoo?after using all sorts of expensive, not so expensive stuff I've gone to using Vosene after finding the fancy brands were leaving a nasty build up on my hair. Oh I have gel nails too but only the inlays as I can't manage with anything longer than a couple of weeks growth - no tips for me.

I'll be a supermodel yet.

At 5'4" and size 12 with fair skin and ginger hair I very much doubt that.

Hi all,

My grooming routine varies daily, usually it is determined by advanced bookings and general apathy on my days off.

I am a moisturiser addict! I have vats of the stuff. My favourite,  that I use every time I shower and before bed, is a really cheap but excellent Cocoa Butter from Wilkinsons. It's ?1.28!!! I moisturise my face with Simple and then a more expensive one before bed to stave off the wrinkles.

I exfoliate with those amazing scrub gloves twice a week, put a face mask on when I get 10 minutes to myself on Sunday.

When I am working, I shave my legs and armpits every other day and shave bikini if there is any hair. I've had most of it lasered off, but I top up the laser every couple of months. Pluck stray eyebrow hair. I give myself a full manicure and pedicure on Sunday and file the nasty hard skin on my feet every couple of days and moisturise with Heel Balm.

Now that it is summer I have to cover my horrendous tan lines with fake tan. The best one I have found is St. Moritz moose from TK Max ?3.99, applied with a tan mitt from Boots or Primark. It doesn't streak and leaves a really good tan that deepens when you reapply.

I trim my hair about every 3 months, or when it looks straggly and I have an amazing colourist who does my natural looking highlights every 6 weeks.

The GYM!!! I hate it. I am meant to work out 3 times a week, but haven't been for 2 months. I'm ok when I'm there, but I always have an excuse! Having a high metabolism really helps. When I do get there it is 20 mins on the cross trainer and 30 mins light weights. I will do a Body balance class if by some miracle I am not working when they are on.

Make up.... I have a work uniform. Bobby Brown Foundation and powder, define eyebrows, No.7 brown sparkly eyeshadow and eyeliner, Rimmel curved brush black mascara then Maybelline Full volume Mascara (the yellow waterproof one), a bit of blusher and Laura Mercier Miracle under eye concealer. I refuse to wear make up when I'm not working appart from a bit of mascara and blush if I look like shite.

Oh my goddess! Such vanity! I don't know where I fit it all in. All I know is that if I don't moisturise and keep up the regime, I feel manky and unfit for male consumption! My clients always comment on how silky my skin is, so it must be paying off!   :-*
