I think it depends on what your end game is. If you're young and what a long civvy career then training etc. makes sense. But if you have no particular goals in that area, why not earn, save, then retire and do what you want, which would be working (and you could do any necessary training then) or volunteering?

Education is good, but I know a few people who are perpetual students and never apply what they learn.

Sex work enabled me to open a small work from home business, however it doesn't make me much money but I'm not giving it up. It's a good business front for me. Hoping as the years go by it gets more successful. I've toyed with going back to university (I do have a degree but no longer work in that industry so its useless) but I still want to be my own boss. I hate being employed by anyone. I'm looking into more beauty therapy things I can open (lashes and brows) but I enjoy sex work too much to stop it.

I've been doing some courses from theskillsnetwork . com. There's a great variety of longer and shorter courses, and some are free. You get a nationally recognised qualification on completion. All online in your own time, and with realistic deadlines for submitting modules. Can highly recommend  :D

There is a website offering free university courses from all over the world called coursera - there are some really good courses available.

The website is about promoting education rather than making money, and I've managed to improve my (civvy) CV at no cost other than time and effort.
