I have found  some nice places to work from, where you pay a small daily fee but what you earn is yours.

Makes me think that if more places like that crop up, then brothels will come to a end.

I can understand why ladies worked in them a few years back but not now with more ladies knowing how to make an Adultwork profile and those flats being let.

Am in the process of persuading a struggling brothel owner to call it a day and rent the rooms to indies for a small fee instead. She is coming round to my way of thinking. These days there is simply no need for WGs to give up half their money or have anyone control what they charge.

Hopefully WGs will continue to pull together like this. Also saves the hassle of being thrown out of hotels.

 I've been independent in Belfast for 4 years but I moved to Chepstow in October and hadn't worked here untill today. I took one job (the only job) in one of the 'brothels' I'd been given a place. Well I tell you what, it wasn't my cup of tea to say the bloody least. I am perfectly capable of pimping myself without some other eejit doing it for me. 45 mins of soul destroying hard work for ?40 quid as opposed to ?100 and feeling in control! I'm not trying to tell you what to do in any way but from what I understand  WGs can expect higher prices in NI than is some areas of England (correct  me if I'm wrong).  I think in the area of Wales you live in (and I know the place)  you may have to look at revising your prices a little. (If you are charging the same as you do in NI for example)

I agree that rates may be slightly lower in Wales than in Ireland, but I think Natalie was saying that she just doesn't currently have a place to do incalls from?

There must be city-centre hotels and apartments in Welsh cities, though! It might just be a case of trying a few out and taking the risk yourself, if no one here has been there before? Although if you post in the Touring section, it's likely that ParisB and others will have experiences and recommendations for where to stay in Cardiff etc.

Anyway - back on topic - isn't it the case that if three indies work together in the same apartment, they are all at risk of the police busting them? Or if just one of them has her name on the lease, she's the one that could go down should the police take an interest? Of course it depends on area/risk level, and honestly I agree that indies should be able to work safely in group from shared flats if they want to (from what I hear punters complaining about on forums, they often already do this in order to share costs and any girl who's free will answer the phone and sometimes give incorrect answers about someone else's services, leading to much punter grumpiness - but if you're all organised and work separately, this should not be an issue) but someone might still go down for running a brothel. So someone's still got to take a whole bunch of risk on behalf of everyone else.

I think there's a reason brothels and agencies are still around even though they're technically completely unnecessary. Newbies to the industry often don't want to work 'alone' and they don't yet know that being with a crap agency/brothel is much worse anyway. At the end of the day, it doesn't take most women long to realise how straightforward it is to do things yourself and of course most of us want to keep our whole earnings bar tax, so there's a lot of motivation to go indie and hence there are a billion indies.

There are still reasons why a well-run brothel or agency (although they are sadly rare) can benefit the women that work with them: security, company, not having to talk to any idiots on the phone. At the end of the day, all sex workers should have the legal freedom to work how they like, though, so I definitely don't disagree with the OP's points either.

Heyy. It was a case of not having an incall place. My rates are the same as they are in N.I which are considerably higher than the average price in mainland UK. I am revising them (maybe) Lol. I've taken advice from Paris and a few others on hotels etc, all of which was fab and which when I am in those areas most deffo bear in mind. However it's just for now in my new home area I need somewhere 'permanent'.
