I keep reading reports where women have been described as having an 'amazonian figure'.

What does this mean?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I was just wondering.

I was going to look it up, but I think I can answer. It can mean statuesque, as in tall and voluptuous and well built. I am pretty sure its a compliment. I'm waiting for the more informed answers too!

Do you guys know about the women of the Amazon? I think they were a tribe of (mythological?) all-female warriors, so the word "Amazonian", when used to describe a woman, means tall and strong and probably with big boobies, like Lucy said. Here's the Wikipedia entry. As with anything that's to do with women, some doods have a giant (lol! pun!) fetish about it.

The Amazonian all female tribe of warriors did not hail from the Amazon or Brazilian rainforests.  Emily got it pretty spot on they are a mythical tribe of female warrior tribe from the antiquity who were known to be very tall and statuesque.  Homer mentioned their princess in his works.  They were particularly renowned for their horse breeding and riding skills.  Think they hailed from somewhere around the Black See/Caucasus.  According to some legends they removed their right breast in childhood so they could use their weapons better and their breast would not get in the way.     

The term ?Amazonian? now would describe a very tall, athletic long legged woman (removed right tit generally is not expected lol)

So it is a compliment then, where has this word sprung from though?! I have only seen it used in the last few weeks lol.

Removal of the right breast was so it didn't get in the way of using bow and arrow, as far as I can remember. Bit of a bugger if you are left handed?

I am assuming that the guys saying this are thinking of Xenia and mean it as a complement, lol, I had a quick gander at your site and if someone had described you as amazonian to me I would have been very dissapointed, you are too pretty and petite to fit that description.
