should i worry
« on: 23 May 2012, 11:18:30 am »
recently a guy i knew from one of my work places arrived for a visit, i was quite worried and although he complimented me and wanted to go ahead with the booking i said , please do not get me into trouble i do not wish to loose that job and he assured me he would not say anything. he really enjoyed his session with me and when i did see him at the work place he was nice and professional with me. I changed my profile and mobile as i was so worried and checked my pictures  , as he said the hair and nails were clues it was me, but anyone can have long dark hair and coloured nails.. should i worry and do anything else?

Ouch. This guy has a lot of power over you now (I suspect he knows it). Maybe he will use it maybe not. Depends if he's a decent person or not. It certainly leaves you in  a vulnerable situation.

The uber paranoid in me who tends to think "worst case scenario" would delete that profile and change phone numbers right away. No evidence= no crime. It would be his word against yours in case of blackmail or in case he tells another guy (men can be bitches and love to point out these things to other guys in the pub).  I would create a whole new profile with new pictures and if I have a very characteristic feature such as long blue nails or pink hair I would hide them or go for another look.

I would say: protect yourself right way.

I would echo what Ana has said BUT also am sure he will be as worried as you about being "outed" if he is married esp,but even if he single am guessing its not something he wants thrown about, about himself in the work place.x

Thanks ladies, This guy , he is in a long term relationship  so he may keep it zipped, but i have changed the mobile phone completly and none of the images would indicate me if he tried to get me into trouble. well i have such good feedback and much of it otherwise i would have removed my profile that day. i still need to make money so will just hope things will be ok. apparently a woman who worked there b4 had got drunk on nights out and told everyone she stared in porn films,  i found out today and they did nothing with her!!! i may be ok .

Orchid, please don't worry too much, i doubt he would say anything because firstly people will be wandering why he is on escort sites and secondly they would think he had a problem with you if he was trying to screw things up for you.

I know it sounds a silly thing to say.But when you next take pictures try to not look like you if that makes sense.Go for different nail varnish, hairstyle etc. Disguise your background if it is your home the pictures are taken in.Wear different jewellery, watch etc. so eagle eyed people will not recognise you.And of course with tattoos etc photo shop them out.

I completely agree with this- but you have to get the balance between looking enough like you so that clients get a realistic impression of what they are getting, and looking un-recognisable to everyone else, it's a hard balance.

Personally what I do is style myself completely different in my personal life to my work life. i.e in my private life I leave my hair natural, don't wear much make up, wear typical studenty clothes. Then in my working life I am all about the glamour  ;)

Before I learnt to do this I did get caught out- but I think I wasn't being careful enough, plus my physical profile is pretty rare so I think most people could have spotted me a mile off.

By asking him please do not tell anyone I think has exposed a weakness, and showing your concern has made you more vulnerable. Most guys wouldn't do or say anything because it could expose them, but there will be some who would take advantage. Sometimes being confident in the right way is best defence.

Not exactly but I have been in a situation where mentioned I was worried about being outed in a particular situation, I then had to stop seeing the client over something else, and he then threatened to do what I was afraid of.  I don't actually know if he did because I got myself out of the situation and left. I also know how people can think and use things against you in life in general if you fall out with them. Most people wouldn't dream of behaving that way and of course it does run a risk for them.

These days I tend not to get myself into positions where I can be blackmailed or threatened like that, being outed wouldn't matter too much. Unfortunately not the case for a lot of others.

I would not worry about this too much at all, after all he has probably more to loose than you have.  I have met people who are friends of friends doing this work although granted we have never come face to face outside of my environment but I think he is here for one thing and I am here to deliver it what happens between us stays that way.  I have always said if someone knocked at my door who I have worked with I would give them a huge kiss ask if they were cool with it and carry on as normal.
