Hot wax is def better than warm (or strip) wax as it removes more hair, causes less regrowth and can be used on much shorter regrowth so you are fuzzy for longer! I don't go for the totally bald look and leave a bit of hair as I,m happier with the look personally, but keep it trimmed. I get bored sometimes and shave it then wish I hadn't as I have sharp prickly ends growing Compared to soft wispy New ones. Did six week course of IPL from groupon which was doing amazingly but couldn't manage to fit in the Appointments.would absolutely recommend if u want hair free as once it's gone, it,s gone and the cost of a few of packages will be less than loads of waxes, and it doesn't hurt nor do you need much regrowth.

I am going to try the soprano laser, apparently painless and works. Tried waxing my skin is toooo sensitive, ingrown hairs e.t.c  tried every product nothing worked. At the moment stuck with shaving though using a hair minimising lotion slows the hair growth, so your smoother for another day or two.

I had my upper lip waxed a few weeks ago and ended up with a rash of tiny whiteheads. Not impressed!

I use expensive MENS razors which are the Gillette Fusion Power along with Aloe Vera shaving Gel and then when I get our the shower I rub moisturiser on everything I have shaved which keeps me really smooth and not a razor burn or rash in sight.

It's not the first time I've heard of women using men's razors, if they really are recommended I may try some! I use a Wilkinson Sword Quattro, which isn't cheap but it does my head in as it feels like the blade blunts after 5min. Honestly, I could use a new blade every time I shave. So I think that may be part of the razor burn problem.

I was interested to know if others have had laser removal for work. I'm just sick of shaving every day for work, and it's never quite baby-smooth as I usually shower in the evening by the first client the following day it's already getting prickly.

I have darkish hair so should be ok for laser. But it's expensive and I don't think it lasts forever so I don't know if the costs are justified. I Googled Soprano laser, the reviews seem good. I'm interested in the home machines for the cost and convenience of doing it at home but don't expect they would work as well.

I've used the home ones. They do work - sort of - at least there was a noticeable reduction in the amount of hair sprouting from my body. This meant I only had to deal with removing sparsely spread body hair every 2 to 3 weeks.

The main problem is that it takes so long to do. I started by using a Boots one which involved smearing a gel onto the skin. It would take me 2 hours just to do my legs by which time I'd had more than enough! I've now got a Homedics machine which is quicker to use but I don't feel it is quite as powerful as my old Boots one.

Just wanted to ask if anyone had any tips on shaving rash. I was doing okay for a long time, but I guess I've been leaving it in between working days so ive got more sensitive again. I tried a different razor but that made me flare up everywhere, and although I've now gone back to a Venus, i still get spots and bumps in the pubic area and under arms where clothes rub I guess. Im really self conscious about it at the moment as it looks unsightly. I use azulene oil, as I always have, but it doesn't seem to be helping at the moment. Any tips?

I never get a shaving rash anywhere (and I shave everything, every day) but I reckon that's cause I always use good gents razors. I use Gillette Fusion Power razors, I glide over my skin gently and use shaving gel. Then once I am dried out the shower, I rub some moisturiser onto my bikini line and body lotion onto my legs.

My best friend used to use crap lady's razors and always used to get shaving rashes on her bikini line and razor marks on her legs so her fake tan would end up all streaky, I eventually managed to talk her into using guys razors and she's never had that problem since.

Another way to keep a shaving rash away is to use sunbeds, I know that sounds weird but it definitely does work.

this might sound odd (i'm a newbie) but are you generally *expected* to be hair free? i've accepted that i'll need to keep under my arms and my legs hairless but i forgot that i might need to get bikini waxes too.. any advice would be appreciated!

Well since I wrote the above comment about never ever getting a rash, I have suddenly started getting rashes and I'm not doing anything different  ::)

So I am booked in to start having laser treatment instead.

i used to find that shaving rash/ingrowing hairs were more directly related to the underwear I wore afterwards (well thats what i always thought/put it down to)
now i always try to wear loose and cotton/silk undies after any grooming down there and it seems to be a good system (for me) the elastic rubbing seems to cause me more rash than the actual method.. but i do tend to stick with shaving (I also prefer mens razors) I use conditioner instead of shaving gel (because its cheaper, goes further and softens the hair and skin)
I had a really crap waxing experience once and had to work with it and it was the sorest thing ever and looked sh**! so make sure to go by recomendation (of someone whos actually been there) when you choose a waxer! (i made the mistake of trusting someone who recommended a friend of theirs from beauty college... and it was a big mistake! turned out the person who recommended them was more of a 'character reference' than a client of hers  :FF)
since then I have never been brave enough to get a wax again but manage to stay problem free with shaving using the tricks I mentioned already... I was always uncomfortable working with too much stubble so was double dissapointed that my wax was crap after patiently waiting for it to get to an ok length!
maybe we need to start a thread with waxing recommendations/reviews on here like we have with hotels or time wasters lol...I know someone whos going on the crap list straight away haha  ;)

IPL IPL IPL. If you have dark hair, get ipl treatment, you can buy philips at home treatment or go to the salon. It is pricey but just think how much your razors or waxing habits would add up to over time. NO it doesn't get rid of it all but it significatley reduces hair to almost nothing & even if i do have to shave, at least the irritation is minimal as possible.

Use baking soda & coconut oil after shaving it helps with ingrown hair & rashes etc.

Waxing is..... difficult. It's the most flawless result for sure but it's ?35 a go at the salon & 45 minutes out your day + (you have to go to salon trust me i've tried to man it myself and it takes me 3 hours because i'm a wimp) plus you will get wax on everything you love XD It just goes everywhere it's untrue, i spilt it on my airbrush foundation kit & it wouldn't come off so no get it done at a salon.

I'd say i'd need at least 8 days form shaving to get a wax so you would have to go out of service unless you advertise as "trimmed" < aka not shaved in a while but not a crazy bush for about a week. But i just can't work with a slight bush as i feel unsexy, personal preference i know girls who work full bush & they're happy that way and they wont shave because it feels uncomfortable, fair enough.

Believe me i have tried every means & method to get that perfect smooth & sometimes i watch porn like HOW DO YOU GET IT SO CRAZY NEAT so no actual turning on happens i'm just awestruck at the smoothness haha.

So i guess special occasions i wax (and i have started to use the veet roll on which does work better for not going everywhere & i get my boyfriend to take the strips off because i can't bring myself to do it) But normally i just shave with baking soda & coconut oil yes. Not the most ideal but hohum. Waxing just isn't realistic in this job on a regular basis. I'm waxing for my upcoming holiday but taking a another 10 days out prior to that lol

Hi all,

Any tips/advice on what you do regarding hair growth/ingrowing hairs between waxing when you're due to see clients?

Thanks Tee x

I think in this job shaving is best because we are naked most of the time, waxing is a not for me personally, nothing more off putting than stubble x

Why not trim the sides?
