What else do you do? [was: Seems pretty common...]
« on: 27 September 2022, 12:18:42 pm »
What else  you gonna do in your life? - Ironically enough I was mainly asked this question at the begging of my escort career, when I couldn't even be bothered with that.

Any time I read some interview/ twitter etc I notice that girls also don't have much clue what else they would do in their life when thy have to/want to quit for whatever reason.

For 10 years of my escorting I still have no clue what else I want to do/ how I am going to make money. Even if I had enough signals to start to think about it.

I honestly feel like a loser. Fucking hell if I only spend some time figuring out BTC back in the 2016 when escorting sites started introducing this payment method.

I'd love to hear some retired stories or part time stories.

Apart from the first few months when I just wanted a break after being an office slave for 25+ years, I've always done a civvy freelance job in conjunction with escorting, and over time the ratio of time has gone from 70:30 escorting to civvy to more like 95 percent civvy work. A big advantage is that you're not relying totally on escorting – with all its up and downs – for your income. I also think it helps mentally: even volunteering one day a week gives you a psychological (and physical) break.

Used to do care work and enjoyed it. Except the pay is bad and it’s hard work. Can’t see myself doing anything else other than sex work. I love the flexibility and being my own boss

I retrained during my sex work, qualified professional. For a while I was almost 50 50 actual work time, but not income. Sex work then took off again particularly when there was a slight clash, or at least important situation arose.

The pandemic addressed that balance somewhat, but I still enjoy sex work so much that it leads the way.

During escorting I always worked full time In healthcare .
There were many times I wanted to quit but I didn't risk taking the gamble and going into escorting full time .
Now I just do phone chat and work nights  it suits me perfectly .

I volunteer one day a week, and it definitely does me good. If I did want to retire and do something else it would give me something to put on a CV other than just sex work too, which can't hurt :)

Mariaxxx, I feel the same sometimes as what you described in your initial post.

I do escorting full-time and have no real hobby or anything I aspire to achieve on the side. I've done some civvy jobs in the past and I really wouldn't see myself doing it again, it's just so much hard work which isn't well rewarded and the idea of working for someone who can dictates what you can do/can't do is tiring.

I'm desperately trying to find some side projects I could start (especially when escorting isn't busy like now) but there is really nothing that I'm keen on or something I could see myself investing my time in (+ I don't have any real skills).

I also don't want to do escorting all my life but I'm quite money driven + I value my free time a lot so when I think about other jobs that have the same time/money ratio, let's be honest there are not many  :(

I am in exact same situation. So I am really happy for that forum coz I believe others had this problem before us and can advice.

I can only add that I started age of 18 so I barely have anything in my cv, which is teriffying me.

Aside from other work I have lots of hobbies more than I can do, and one I became successful in. This however required absolute obsession,  so once most of my goals were achieved (and the sacrifice:benefit ratio tipped the wrong way) I stepped down because of the effects on my health, work and personal life, brought it back to an enjoyable hobby.

Seems like you had a longer term vision and wisdom early on. I remember laughing at my proffesors, thinking things will never change and I will be paid way more than them forever.
