School anyone?
« on: 04 September 2009, 08:56:09 am »
Yeah!
Hurrah!
Get up and get out - school went back today!

It might have taken me 8 yells up the stairs and 3 threats of cold water buckets but they got up and they got out and school returned today....
A wee bit pointless to go back on a Friday but back they went and my God is it quiet around here!
I can talk on the work phone without removing myself to the porch?
I can update my website with the door open?
I can edit photo's during daylight hours and not at the dead of night to save blushes and questions?
I can tidy up the living room and it remains tidy until 4pm?
What? I don't have to actually cook anybody lunch?
Oh wow.... It was totally worth the struggle to climb out of bed at 6am for me!

Happy school term to you all and long may we wait for half term!

I hear this loads for other moms- I do find it fascinating the chaos of large families.   I only have one, so I miss her when she is gone, can't wait for her to return to tell me all about her day. I even wake up early to make her a cup of tea before she goes to school. I too was raised as an only child, so I always though it would be great to have total madness in the house.  I love it when she has all her friends over and the noise in the house is amazing to me. Am I sounding crazy here?

Well I thought id gone deaf today it was so quiet! Managed to leave the house earlier without having to keep repeating "Go and put your shoes on, go and put your shoes on.."

No, your not sounding crazy at all. It is actually, I am finding far, far too quiet around here.
I can actually hear stuff going on outside. The neighbour in her garden and people parking up and leaving again.
No telly is on, no music. I washed up a sink full of dishes an hour ago and the sink is still empty. It's kind of not real...
I am sat here thinking 'Okay, well, that's all the cleaning up done. Now what do I do?'
Come on ring you darn phone, you rung in the holidays when I could not pick you up!

As soon as you get into a routine, it changes. Totally throws me.
I got used to staying up later and sleeping in later and sending kids off while I work then getting them back after and hiding rubbish in one room so it looks tidy when clients come around.
Now I am up early after not being able to sleep early last night and there are no children to sort out so I can work and no mess hanging about to hide.
I can't seem to remember what it was I actually did when not working while the kids were out at school! I don't think it involved Jeremy Kyle too often and certainly not the lunchtime news, so, what the heck did I do exactly?

I'm just done buying a school uniform and various school-related stuff. ?250 so far. I've only just picked up my jaw off the ground. I've still yet to buy the special calculator they need.

Mine is off to Berlin on Monday for a school trip, and has just announced she needs 250 euro spending money! I asked for what, and am still awaiting an answer.

Ive a birthday this month and have had hints for one of those mini-laptops (the ones that cost double the price of the regular sized ones.) Her dad (my ex) is getting off lightly by only spending a hundred pounds. Does anybody remember that movie where the grown ups tell the kids they are getting a divorce and thier response is "Yay, two christmases?!"

Amen to that Abby, I'm loving the peace and quiet.  8)

Snuggling up on the sofa with my moggy without the constant -

"Mum, Mum, Mammy, Mum, Mother, MUUUUUM !!"

Laughing my ass off at the clandestine phone calls too, if I have to have one more conversation in the
loo I'll explode.  >:(

If I have to take calls in my bathroom I have to hang out of the window for a signal and then I am going 'What? Sorry, I can not understand you. Your breaking up, hang on, let me just lean out a bit more.... What? You can not hear me? I can't shout really, I have a terrible signal.... Oh no, my foot just went right down the pan!
Bloody bathrooms.

There are cheap Fx18 calculators (or whatever the hell ones they use) in Tesco and they have them in pink and blue as well Brandy.
