this site has a range of alarms and panic alarm for  lone workers

its similar to the house alarm that i have which when activated will ring /text up to 10 numbers for me to let them know i need help

i have a different thing  ie standard alarm which is linked to panic button that i can press that will ring out for me if needed
and you can add to it as you need it ect

i also have this which is a lone worker alarm which if i push it it will also contact people for me its usefull if you are on outcalls / just travelling on your own or dont want an alarm in your house  you do have to be  a bit techie but it dose work as long as you follow the instruction  they are pretty simple ( but i didnt set mine up  ;D

this is also idea if you want cctv but want it discrete as its in a security light

http://www.ultrasecuredirect.com/acatalog/Flood_light_CCTV_SL1003_CCTV.html

i think if your working from you own home you have to beef it up as such  more so that you would do if you just lived there and didnt work there
you might not ever need it but it pays to be vigilant and safe
things that i would reccomend doing is looking at your house /flat for its weak spots  look at it as if you would want to break in and see how easy it is to do it

simple cheap things are things like

If you have a gate then  put a lock a lot lower down the gate than usual  so that someone cant put there hand over to open it   you could also put a bolt on it that you can bolt at night

if you have a gate put a good padlock  ( bike locks like kryptonite are very strong you need a tool cutter to get it off which takes time )

Good high powerd floodlight  they can be bought for under a tenner  from B&Q

if you have a wall which is easy to get over,  just get some fences and get them attached to it to prevent anyone jumping over

Put up a  sign/sticker that states you have cctv ect /alarms ect and put up a sign saying Guard Dogs /Caution Dogs  even if you dont have one   or its a little handbag dog  thieves and scumbags hate dogs

often we put on our websites /profiles that were away on holiday which is basically saying come and rob me cos im in spain at the moment  ;D

More expensive but still worth it
a good alarm  with remote access /dial out  ect is worth investing in my alarm has one of those bloody annoying sweetshops ding dong noises that it makes everytime my front door opens and closes drive me nuts but it a good warning system
and if you rent get wireless alarms and then you can take it with you
