NHS Cut Backs
« on: 10 February 2012, 03:49:37 pm »
I've just been to the nurse for a smear and have been told I can't have one as my last one was in Dec 2010, and if the nurse does one for me the lab will simply throw it away and then send her for re-training  :o.  I've been having yearly smears for 10 years now for my own peace of mind when a smear I had just over 10 years ago came back abnormal.  I've never had a problem up until today.  The nurse said if I wanted to continue to have yearly smears, then I'd have to go private.
I know it's not her fault and the surgery I go to are in uproar about it and trying to do something.  Sadly I doubt that will happen as many cut backs in the NHS only seem to line the pockets of the big wigs at the top.

Having been a student nurse my advice would be to make a doctor (not a nurse) appt and explain the situation...they should oblige :)

Have already made one,  :)as the nurse said the dr could refer me to a gyno.  Just seems a lot of messing around to get a flippin smear.  :FF
Mind you on another note, I can kill 2 birds with one stone and have a word with the dr about getting a hystorectomy, as that was something I also discussed with the nurse also, as I'm fed up with heavy periods. :)
