Portion sizes.
« on: 06 May 2009, 07:04:29 am »
Now for something completely different. I travels loads, but I have just noticed that portion sizes of food are starting to get larger on Continental Europe. I know being American, we are reported to like every thang big! But not so. I noticed it at  restaurant in Belfast, the amount of food was HUGE! Then yesterday morning when I ordered an Omelet. It was massive, I ate about half and left the rest. Or is it that I am eating less? Any one notice this or is it just me?

Americans complain about small portions unless you're going to some fancy, pancy gourmet type place. Thats why I like seafood resturaunts because the portions are always descent and packed with protien.

Airplanes having big portions? Deffo not in America at the moment. Last time I ordered a drink for 7 bucks on a plane. You know what they gave me? One of those 99 cent mini-bottles of Absolute vodka. Im like, what the fuck? LOL.

the portions on the plane are always small

the portions on the continent compared to the british islands are usually much bigger

however i assumed the portions in the US are much bigger than the ones in Europe

I am quite happy with plane portions, cause let's be realistic here, who the hell wants to eat more than the small portion allotted to you? Unless you are traveling first or business, where they serve real food, instead of geometrically shaped cubes masquerading as some recognizable form of food. Haven't you ever noticed that the chicken on the plane tastes, chicken-ish as opposed to tasting, looking and smelling like chicken?
