Panorama online pimps exposed.
« on: 10 November 2021, 02:18:33 pm »
I'm just watching this on catch-up and I'm annoyed. They are accusing Viva Street of being pimps by selling advertising space to escorts. I don't usually get into the politics of sex work but would you agree that it's true VS are pimps? I can understand getting irate over the real pimps placing the adverts, but I wouldn't describe our advertising platforms as pimping us out, would you?

Also, the reporter caught up with the taxi driver to see where he'd picked the women up from and he said from the airport and that they didn't look like tourists!! What the heck does a tourist look like then. Weird reporting.

Why are the police using the term 'girls' for adult women, yes when referring to under 18s, but they were using it to describe sex workers and trafficked women as a whole.  :FF

No viva are not pimps but they are making money off sex workers and charge more for adult services so there is an element of taking advantage in there just like paper adverts used to charge twice or 3 times the amount for same size ad for adult services then a plumber or hairdresser.

The only thing with Viva there supposed to support sex worker charities etc but they openly take adverts off a pimp that will advertise multiple women that are obviosly flown in to the UK. So that does not look good as they allow sex services to be ticked for each advert so they know the pimp is making money off selling sex and not just the " escort service"

'Working girl', that old euphemism is undoubtably why 'girl' is such a prevalent term in this industry, and why I think the police were using it.

I detest the use of the word 'girl' to describe an adult human female. Women who refer to themselves as girls are complicit in this too, and it needs to stop.

It's a figure of speech loads of people say that like clients and many members on here. I have noticed it gets said more if the women are under 35 years of age. I don't think anybody that says it is trying to be offensive even the police.

Mostly i say Women or ladies but i would not tell someone to stop because i know most just mean " girl " by referring to the opposite sex or the term " working girl" i know some get really annoyed over it but it's not that much of a big deal just a preference i suppose.

Ah EG, thanks for that. It was a genuine question as I really thought maybe some SW's maybe saw places like AdultZone etc as pimps, but yes, I now get the issue with the price increase for us.

excuse my ignorance here but I've never advertised on viva, I was under the impression they did "ad verification" (woman holding her assport etc..) like AW, isn't that the case?  ???

I think they do that if you want to verify but that does not show anyone is indie as the pimps just take the photo with them holding it like they do on AW. It only benefits that you can see there details and there over a legal age.

Yes i definately don't look at them as pimps but like a lot of advert companies they take advantage of us some way or another usually the discrimination over the price for adverts.

Even though I have documents and I used the same credit card for many years Viva made it difficult for me to verify. I gave up trying when they wanted me to load Yoti onto my personal phone. I actually did it, submitted the required documents but this did not change my status to verified.

I did not like the intrusive nature of the app, so when it didn't change my status I removed it and carried on unverified. Prior to that they'd wanted me to pose in exactly the same lingerie as one of my profile photos, holding some proof (because I didn't show my face on profile photos).

Why they couldn't simply match my ID with the name on the credit card I do not know.

You had to pose in the same lingerie Mirror to verify! Wow that's disgusting and intrusive beyond belief. All they need is proof of the person advertising is over 18 years of age.

Really creepy verifying procedures. Maybe the panorama programme had a point after all.
