Opportunity for photo shoot with published porn star
« on: 17 May 2012, 05:16:09 pm »

Just wondering what to make of this invitation. There are no fees to be paid either way and would be free to keep a copy of the content myself for my own use and to use on profiles etc, while obviously the pictures generated will be used on her site and assumedly with little input from me as to eventual use or where they might end up (perhaps on a free to view preview site?)
On the one hand I can see that some pro quality pictures, particularly featuring an established 'name' in UK porn would be a big bonus for me to use but on the other hand would I be giving something away here?
Would love to hear from anyone who has done any kind of shoot on a similar basis and what they felt about it (or just an opinion), plus how useful were the shots to you in terms of selling your services?

Is it someone you've ever heard of?

How comfortable are you with signing away all rights (which is what it sounds like)?
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Yes it is someone I've heard of and who has a pretty big web presence from my own experience.
As you suggest though signing away a little something of me bugs me a bit! I think having some images tucked away inside a members site is one thing but as with a lot of porn sites they tend to promote themselves with free image galleries and what's to say my own pics wouldn't end up there also at some point?
On the other hand I'm thinking having a set of professional images with someone 'recognisable' could help me a lot. Its for 'free' but obviously the purpose is content for someone else's pay site which I can also use myself being the benefit to me.

I've done shared content shoots and paid shoots.
No issues with either.
I work on the basis that both types will be on the net forever
& used for who knows what.
No concerns.
Shared content shoots had a transient benefit to me
but as time rolls on, my styles change and I felt the older pics no longer represented me.

How long have you escorted?
Is this your only job?
If you have other employment or perceive that you will work in mainstream society
{non escorting, non porn} then porn pics with your face on could surface at any future time.

Oh, how you represent image wise as an escort/budding porn star, is this significantly different to how you look to friends family, work colleagues?  ie. would they recognise you from a cursory glance of a selection of pics on a porn site?  Would you care?

Shooting with a 'Name' may bring you more invites to shoot shared content with others with their own pay sites, but that's all. Unlikely to increase the volume of punters visiting you.
Least wise no more than pics from a professional shoot where you own full copyright, would.

Do you have or are you considering having a paid site? If not, there is little benefit to you.
A lot less than there is to the other person, who presumably does have a paid site.

You have understandable reservations which are accurate.
If you apply what I've written above to yourself,
and you are concerned, don't shoot.

Who's the known porn star?

Juliette it sounds like this is something you're not going to profit from (unless you're planing to go into the porn industry). As Jody says: Is this going to bring you more punters? I doubt. Will good quality professional photos bring you more punters? Yes. So why don't you hire a professional, pay him and have total control of your images. You may not care about having your face plastered all over porn sites -now-, but you will care in 10 years when you're married, or have kids, or a normal job.

Yes I was thinking over much of what you have put here before reading it!
I was trying to weigh up who was benefiting the most from this, whether to feel 'flattered' that I was being asked to take part, or on the other hand whether its a bit
like being asked to work for free....Which doesn't help me as someone who is trying to derive an income solely from escorting.
I note what you're saying that the shoots you were involved in made no difference to your escort income, and I suppose there's a limit to how much I'd potentially gain from sticking
images in a private gallery on AW as well though I thought it might gain me some added interest.
I've only relied on escorting as a 'full time' job since the end of January though have been doing it as a sideline since May last year, I would like to think of it as a longer term thing but hard to see how its going to pan out - I was hoping it would be more profitable than it has been switching to full time.
Being 'recognised' by friends, family or suchlike is a slight worry though as I'm not (well at the moment at least...) a full-time TV I'd say the escort image is somewhat set apart from my normal self.
Its Strap-on Jane who also has another site 'Nylon Jane.' From my own experiences of internet porn pretty well known at the fetish/domination end of the spectrum I think.

Blue pixels is their business name IIRC. I knew someone who was in their affiliate scheme.
Their content would be available to any member of anyone's site in the scheme.
They soon found their content wildly distributed throughout the affiliate group.
Not a big deal for you content wise as you don't have a pay site.
What would be a concern would be your images being widely distributed.

If that's an issue, don't do it.
If you're koolio now, and you are  pretty sure you will be in 5, 10, 20 years from now...go ahead.
