I have bought a lovely pair of earings that I adore but are not gold nor silver and are causing the holes  (pierced) to be swelling slightly and then get all yucky and crusty (yuk).  It's damn painful but I love these earings!  What to do? 

Anyone got any tips or advice or cream I can use when wearing them to prevent this?

You can get some stuff you paint over cheap jewellry that provides a film so you don't get irritated by the zinc content - that's what causes most reactions.

It could also be the nickel content. You can get nickel free jewellry. Use clear nail varnish this also works.

yes, it took MONTHS, almost 2 years for my ears to heal until I started wearing real (but inexpensive) gold. Something about the faux silver/stainless causes it to pus and never heal. When I used gold my ears closed within weeks.

I love my fake earrings but I can no longer wear them more than a couple hours per week as its too irritating.
