im still reading this thread and its unreal that out of  630 posts   i would say 98 percent of the women replying all are adament that there husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, would not use a escort,  they all seem to think that the men that use escort treat them like a piece of meat  ( is that why were all so quiet that men dont use us )

are the average women out there in society totally oblivious to the sex industry and all it is  -   i dont mean that in a patronising way either as i dont expect people who are not in this industry to really have any knowledge of it
but  more so that how on earth can they be 100 percent certain that there husbands havnt slept with escort at any point in there life,  its not as if they are going to admit it to them over a glass of wine one night

Reading it is rather sureal,   i feel like i want to post  bollocks to the lot of you,  unless your doing this work how would you know, what guys visit us

i feel very sorry for the OP who seems very traumastised by working as a prostitute, she mentions that she watched bell de jour and thought that it would be like that  ahhhhg i want to bloody scream i hated that bloody programe as it so sooooo glamourised this work  never did it show the negatives  all the clients were good payers lovely hotels and all good looking and even the ones that wernt were still ok guys and she always did loads of overnights in really swanky hotels and she managed to sleep as well

it seem that the OP  had to deal with a lot of shitty clients, and that she had more bad clients than good whereas my experience of working has been the total opposite in that there are more good clients than bad
dont really know why im posting this just found the thread upsetting but strange at the same time

Are you able to somehow point her this way? I bet we'd be much more help than the internet equivalent of the Daily Mail....

Just checking on Google...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_de_Jour_(writer)

"The weblog Belle de Jour: Diary of a London call girl first appeared in October 2003 and won the Guardian newspaper's Best British Weblog 2003, in the second year of the award's existence."

and

"aired on ITV2 as Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The first series aired from 27 September 2007 to 15 November 2007"

You could be right about the OP being a journo though...

Secret Diary started in 2007, so yes it would work, and the blog was already popular in 2004.

I haven't read the thread, but I'd assume that the vast majority of people in committed monogamous relationships assume their partner isn't shagging anyone else because if they couldn't believe that they wouldn't be getting into monogamous relationships. Even if you know that quite a lot of men do pay for sex on the side that's no reason to assume that your darling is breaking his vows, and if you're that suspicious all the time you're not likely to have any satisfying relationships.

Yes, even allowing for the fact that she's had enough of the work, that's what struck me too.

I wonder if it's selective memory - there's a great chapter in one of the whore-lit books about how the average clients merge into one and what's left are the memorably good and bad ones - or Yet Another Reason Not To Trust An Agency With Looking After You.

Even if you know that quite a lot of men do pay for sex on the side that's no reason to assume that your darling is breaking his vows, and if you're that suspicious all the time you're not likely to have any satisfying relationships.

Throw in some 'what clients are doing is basically rape and my partner isn't like that' too, I suspect.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

I read the Belle du Jour books or blog in 2005 when they first came out. I remember that cause I was working in bookshop that year and it was getting mentioned a lot. So the dates would work I guess. Don't think it's a journo, but can't fathom how all those women are saying their husbands would NEVER do it  :o

Yes they probably wouldn't entertain the idea of their hubbys having affairs, let alone, shock horror, seeing a WG!

Paris, I've been following that thread since it started  :-[  ;D and I thought exactly the same thing re journo.  There is also another thread re 'one night stands' .......... funny how there was a poll on tv of late asking for these figs.  Really makes you suspicious.  Time will tell if its journo.

It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,

Maybe the more bad clients than good is an agency thing? I'd be scared if I got sent to guys homes without having first vetted them myself. A brothel set up with security is one thing but an outcall agency where only someone interested in a cut of my money is vetting / screening the clients would be my worst nightmare in this job .

I wonder if it's selective memory - there's a great chapter in one of the whore-lit books about how the average clients merge into one and what's left are the memorably good and bad ones - or Yet Another Reason Not To Trust An Agency With Looking After You.

that what i thought maybe selective memory in that she only remembers the bad ones now she is out of it,   overall my experience hasnt been bad,  i mean i can probably count those clients that i would NOT see again on both hands and still have one or two fingers left.    i get where she is coming from  about when your out and about you will look at guys and think potential client but i do the same with women if they are in a bar /nice car and dressed nicely  ( very sad i know)  and i sure as hell dont want to punch them

Of course  there  have had clients that will try to push boundaries  weve all had them and we all have our own ways of dealing with them   Because i have long hair its a bloody magnet for those guys that want to  pull or hold on to  when im giving them a bj
but i just move myself so that they cant do this or i remove there hand and if they try to do it again then i tell them that i dont like it and to stop  but it dosnet traumastise me or make me hate me or myself,   and yes there are those with bad hygiene and those that are just assholes   but those guys are everywhere not just paying for sex and  ive never been spat at or assulted  ( not to say that it dosnt happen of course)

I think that maybe because  she only ever worked for an agency  and she was not able to vet her clients  herself  thats possibly  one of the reasons she feel like she dose because she has had no or very little control over the clients that she met with  which is why she feels the way she dose also feeling that bad but having to stick with it is even worse

i dont think that  by asking on mumsnet  she is going to get a very balancened view of it either, considering that virtually all of them are saying no their husbands have not slept with a escort and those that do are sick individuals or they have raped a girl by having sex with her because  he is paying her

I could imagine maybe she feels so bad about herself for having done the work at all that yes the selective memory thing would make sense. I wish someone could point her in the direction of here but don't know if the mumnet people would allow that !
