managing pets during incall
« on: 13 October 2012, 10:23:04 pm »
I have a studio and put the one cat in the kitchen during clients visiting me.
It would jump all over them otherwise + they might have allergies to the clients or vise versa!
Do ladies have difficulties managing pets whislt working?

i have a kitten, 2 cats and a small dog, the dog is downstairs during the appt but jumps up at the client when he comes in and walks through the kitchen (set up is awful, wish i could move) so now i get my bf to take her out or my sister as it really puts me off when she barks when im upstairs with the client, its a nightmare  :FF i just lock the cats out the room which usually works, they stay away anyway (apart from the kitten lol!)

i have encountered only 2 problems, one was just an asian guy who on his way out said' next time i come youll have to keep the animals away i dont like them', i just thought erm mate there wont be a next time lol im an animal lover and write on my profile i have pets in my house so any fearful or allergic clients can pass up seeing me if they wish

had a client once that hated cats and my kitten escaped into the room and climbed on him lol he shit it and cried out 'Oh my god a cat!!' it was hilarious how anyone be scared of a cute baby kitty is beyond me!

most client stroke the pets or talk about theirs which is nice, as far as im concerned if any client cant stand my pets then i dont really care if he doesnt book!

We're both animal lovers and have grown up around pets in our own houses - sadly the place that we're renting at the moment doesn't allow pets but I'm sure when we finally manage to save up a deposit and buy we'll have a small menagerie! We have chatted about how to deal with pets and clients - I think it's just a case of being that much more fastidious with regards cleaning (for fluffy loose animals like cats and dogs, get a hoover with a HEPA filter like a Dyson, if you have exotics then use a room do-deodoriser etc!) and keeping the animals out of the work room/work area and in a place where they can't interfere with the booking and it should be fine. Obviously if you have a dog that barks a lot or similar it can be a bit trickier. On the other hand something like a fishtank could always go in the work room to provide an interesting conversation starter (or something to stare at and be amused by during those long and boring meets!)

My lovely girl (a fluffy Sheltie Cross rescue dog)... lies outside the door of the 'room of deeds' and doesn't leave until she sees mum is ok. If there's too much noise from the room she barks her head off :FF She's no drama llama tho' and has only 'lost it' a couple of times. She is my best friend and I love her with all my heart. :) :) :)

Yes! Absolutely agree. If they don't like animals/pets, then I find them to be usually cold, insensitive and selfish. Just me???

I feel like this too, i find people who dont like animals to be strange and lacking in compassion, god knows why (no offence to anyone who doesnt like them  :-\)

must be because i love them and have always had them, usually people that hate or dislike animals never grew up with them or grew up with animal hating parents

Well as someone who is allergic to cats, I just can't be doing with them- sorry to all those that love them- they are cute, but unfortunately for me the allergic reaction isn't!

In terms of dogs, if its a big dog/ very energetic dog it should be kept out of the way. It's  so uncomfortable going into a strangers house and having a dog jump up on you- it's very intrusive and makes me jumpy since I don't know the disposition of the dog.

So yea in general I'd keep them out the way, and if its an animal that someone could be allergic to you should let them know if the clients are going to be in the same area as the animals are allowed to be in, even if you have hoovered as some people's reactions can be very sensitive.

I have 6 cats and a dog, my cats are all outside and the dog in the kitchen.  I always ensure my house is cathair free due to an unfortunate event where a client who was allergic to cats had a severe reaction.  Ever since then I am OCD about animal hair in my house.

I adore my animals and the cats have a heated cathoose with everything a puddy could want.

Most clients just do not like animals around them while busy with the funky monkey.

My dog lives in the lean to so is well out of the way for appointments, couldn't face having a dog jumping up at people entering the house. I do have two cats who do not get on though and as a result one of them pretty much lives upstairs whilst the other one stays downstairs with the door shut when I have company. Shilly is usually sat on the landing ready to greet everybody, she sometimes ventures in to the bedroom but knows when the sussies come out now she needs to keep out the way  ;D Not had a problem, yet, but always have antihistamines in the house just in case!

This is another reason I work a seperate flat to work from.  My animals would not tolerate strangers coming and going as it would upset them.  I have a lot of rescue animals from snakes and harvest mice (we have a breeding programme as there is a shortage up here so they all get released through a local wildlife charity) and 5 rescue cats a large python and my dogs and their routine would be upset.  Plus it is hard for a client to explain the animal hair as not matter how much you clean up it is in the air and gets on clothes
Truth is far more important than what one wants to hear. With truth there is no us and them or colour or religion there is just fact

This for me would be my worst nightmare on an outcall. I know this is a post about incalls. Dani I think it's good that you have a separate flat for incalls. Works better for both your animals and your clients.

Tend to lean with Sav and casey.
And  would go as far as to say typical for animal lovers to expect everyone to love thier pets , i am a caring person and can appreciate a cute cat, however i do not like them or dogs etc around me, if i went on a call and was confronted with animals that weren't securely housed away from where i was expected to work i would leave simples ! I have nothing but sympathy for clients turning up for an incall to be confronted by a pet they did not expect.

I have a rescued cat and fortunately it mostly ignores me and the ciient when we're together. Most clients like to stroke it a bit and say nice things about my little darling, which warms my heart.

I've only had one Asian client who said he didn't like cats and made me lock my kitty away in the bathroom. I have since refused to see him again.

I take my cat with mw on tours as well I smuggle it discreetly into the hotels.

i take one of my dogs to work with me most times

Its company for me  plus he is an excellent guard dog as well so i do feel a reasonably safe with my big 12stone baby sat with me  most of the day

when clients knock he dose bark and he has a bloody loud bark as well, but i keep him in the lounge and take the guys upstairs
he could and he has opened the door by bashing his head against it a few times and them just sat at the bottom of the stair

the guys get the fright of there life when they come out to leave and there is this hulking great big dog sat at the bottom of the stairs by the front door
