Lingerie for BBW's?
« on: 05 June 2011, 09:55:46 pm »
I'm struggling to find things like decent bras/panties, hold ups/stockings in shops and wonder if anyone has any recommendations?  I ordered some lovely holdups from a website which fit great, but they were ?12, and during a web show I touched my thigh with the back of my heel and it tore a hole in them, which turned into a horrible run fairly immediately.

Really upset by that so worried about buying expensive holds ups, but can't find anything less expensive in my size.

As far as bras/panties, apparently us big girls are lucky to get the neon orange and pink with spots stuff, at least it seems that way when you go into la senza, etc...

Hi

Its worth trying Ann Summers. Their Fishnet Holdups in Large/Extra Large have a lace top and are surprisingly roomy - so roomy in fact that even I can wear them! (I'm a dress size 42/44) If you're further down the size scale they will still fit and grip, they will just come higher up your thigh.

They are ?7 a pair and pretty indestructible so they last ages. The website usually has them in Black, White and Red but I've seen them in the shops in Purple and Pink as well.

Hope that helps

Lol, if you can fit into anything in La Senza you are not big.  Postage stamp stuff in there,

Matalan, Primark, BHS all do great stuff for ladies with bigger assets,  I am a 40GG.  They go up to 44 and J's and size 24 pants.

Ann Summers does some stuff but best waiting for the sales.

M & S do nice stockings and hold ups for ?3.50 that last for ages - 20 den.

I get most of mine from simplyyours.com They have some great fancy dress stuff too. Stockings and pull ups I get in the market as cheap as I can as with me they're usually laddered straight away...if not by the pulling then by my toes going through the ends!

George at Asda do a nice range of lingerie and hold ups for ?3, they are gorgeous and last forever and come in really generous sizes.

I've tried Ann Summers, M&S and online stores and paid more just for them to rip or ladder within a few wears and washes but the Asda ones are indestructible!

Also, for less costly than Ann Summers but still varietal, try lovehoney.co.uk I got quite a few bits and bobs though Ann Summers often also has sales on garter belt/stocking combinations.

There is a shop in Lavender Hill which caters to the plus-size if you want to spend some dosh on something really nice... they even have hand-made corsets by a woman who (apparently) makes them for Dita Von Tees (sp?).
http://www.gabriellasandham.com/
Because it's not so trendy of an area, their prices were reasonable for high-end goods...

I pass this on foot every time I go to my best mate's house, I had no idea they cater for us larger ladies! Just looks like a posh boutique from the outside...

I use all the shops mentioned.

An inexpensive way is to go to ebay and get ann summers stuff cheaper - even dress up  outfits.

If you know an Ann Summers Party Organiser you can always approach her too and ask for discount.  When party organisers order things they get 30% discount so you should get something off and perhaps save you having to go to shops (I hate shopping so any excuse does me)
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

What size does Ann Summers go up to?

Normally a 38D in bras and a 20 in clothes and knickers, but they do have a collection that goes up to a 42G and size 24 I think

I second the Ann Summers recommendations, their fishnet hold-ups last forever, and are lovely and roomy (they come up high even on me, and I'm a tall size 16 with long legs).

Ann Summers underwear can be quite pricey but I get a lot of their stuff on eBay or in the sale.  I think they do a lot of things up to size 22/24, but I find their sizing tends to be on the small size.  You can get steel-boned corsets from eBay too, some at very reasonable prices.  I like the underbust corsets, which nip in your waist but leave your boobs naked (and clients like them too!)

For me, Pretty Polly lace-top hold-ups are the absolute best, though.  I am very heavy-handed, and quite clumsy, but these stockings last through anything and everything!  And they're a really good fit.

PAH. Still too small for me  >:( I've not been 38D since I was 15!

Thanks for that anyway. I'll have to wait until I've lost enough weight to get into their clothing.

My sentiments exactly lol.

I also find their sizes can be very much on the small size as one of my friends who is a size 14 just about got herself into a size 20!
