Lidocaine!
« on: 04 February 2015, 05:38:35 pm »
I noticed that girl in the Megabrothel program talking about a numbing ointment she used on busy days and thought "HOLY HELL I NEED TO GET SOME OF THAT!" It took me a while to track down what it was and where to get it, but I went into Boots today and picked up a tube of 5% lidocaine ointment.

Now, I should say that I did a fair amount of reading about this to make sure that it's OK to use. Apparently, this ointment is used by women who have vaginal pain due to surgery, people with haemorrhoids, and nursing mothers with sore nipples. So, it shouldn't be dangerous for use on mucous membranes and doctors aren't afraid to let a nursing infant get traces of it with their breastmilk. From my experience, telling the chemist that you want the stuff for "pain during sexual intercourse" will be met with a "nope." I'm not going to tell you what to tell the chemist.

I'm not going to give actual medical advice or say "you should use this stuff!" You'd want to read the instructions carefully and use common sense. Utterly numbing your rectum so that some guy can pound away back there strikes me as a bad idea.

Right now I am testing it on my nipples. I went braless all last week when I took the week off and my nipples are sore in that way they can get when you go running without a proper sports bra. I'll be having a shower before my booking tonight and I'm hoping that this will make my nipples a little less irritable. I'm also hoping that - having given it a good hour to "soak in" and take effect - it can be rinsed off and not transfer to anyone's mouth.

I want to ad that the tube of stuff I got is a greasy ointment. In addition to needing to apply it well in advance (20 minutes to an hour) it would be very unsuitable as a lubricant as petroleum-based things are not compatible with condoms. It can be washed off after being on for a while, however.

And, really, I would not just launch into this before a booking. I would try a "spot test" on any delicate areas on a day off to make sure that I don't have a bad reaction to the stuff. It could irritate delicate membranes and that would be the opposite of what I'm going for.

Lidocaine gel is used to ease the pain of genital herpes, so it is perfectly safe to use down there. However, do confirm that the specific one you have bought is okay for vaginal use as there are many different brand names out there that may not all be suitable. Pharmacists are used to such questions.

I would have loved to have been explicit with the pharmacist about what I was going to use it for, but that didn't work as the first one flatly turned me down for "occasional pain during vaginal intercourse." That said, I am pretty confident that the product I have is OK for application to mucous membranes. If it doesn't cause an adverse reaction and I rinse it off, I think I should be fine.

When I saw that bit, I thought 'that's a sign your body thinks you shouldn't be having vaginal sex with that number of men who treat you like that'.

Surely it's just going to mask the pain and the actual damage will continue?

I know what you mean, but I have to say that my vagina gets irritated and sensitive pretty easily without actually being torn or abraded in an acute way. While I think depending a lot on lidocaine can lead to problems, I know that when I'm on tour it could make things easier if I could just carry on for a couple more bookings. It takes me one day to recover from soreness of that sort (one full day off of work, I mean - not that I'm OK the next day.)

My thoughts exactly - it's surely a sign that you need to take a day off. I feel the same about working through your period: it's robbing your body of a natural break. I would have thought maybe just a bit of aqueous cream before you go to sleep might help more?

Not everyone has a menstrual period. I don't think that's anything to do with a "natural break."

I would rather not cut a tour short or cancel a booking because I'm a bit sore. I'd rather take my break when I'm finished.

Sounds like a good idea for occaisional use like you say - the odd day on a tour etc. I too get very easily irritated down there - it's just I have very sensitive skin. Don't need it for my nipples as you can chomp away on them to your hearts content and I don't feel a thing! Funny how out bodies are all so different!!!!!
