Make up or wig in the heat.
« on: 14 June 2021, 09:14:33 am »
My own natural hair is now a very short number 1 short back and sides.

For work I wear one of my selection of very nice and not cheap wigs.

However, I am finding that if it’s an exceptionally hot I am really struggling.

Have any of you who have to wear a wig just removed it if it’s really hot. 🥵 Or just done shorter services to give head a break. Or are there any magical wigs that work like a fridge?

Yesterday was Dundee at 24 degrees and I really struggled mainly at the end when he tried to overstay because he couldn’t come(another story) I dread to think how l will cope in non air conditioned places down South in 30 degree heat.

As for make up that drips. Even setting powder no good. Maybe using wrong one.

My natural hair is really fine textured so I sometimes wear wigs/toppers. I agree, the natural looking ones are not cheap to buy!!

Also agree re the heat. I haven't found anything that helps tbh, although toppers are way less hot, if that helps, because air gets in better at the sides. They can be glued on or clipped if your natural hair is long enough (needs to be about an inch) and some of the higher density ones look like a full wig but without the cap.

Headband wigs could work too but I've never tried those.

Re make up I've never found anything that doesn't melt  ;D  ;D Taking gentle make up remover wipes and quickly reapplying is what I do.

 :)

I wear wigs for work and promenading as my hair's zero round the sides and 1 cm on top-severe military flat top. Though I wear glam lush wigs, head heat isn't something I've come across, though my mate's have mentioned it. Probably try thinner hair per inch wigs or wigs which aren't so layered?

I tend to only use a couple stunt wigs which are good but old and I don't mind getting spunk or spit on. The other 15 are for best.

I'm not much help with the setting powder as I don't wear makeup for gigs.

Was also given a tip by a friend about putting driclor deodorant on back of neck. Have worn for years under arms. Going to also put under boobs. You can get that prescribed by doctor if you sweat. The one they give you not always called driclor but it’s the same stuff.

Got 2 B  ( yellow can ) is brilliant for keeping wigs in place
For make that doesn’t run off  in the heat I would suggest some type  of professional stage make up
A friend who is an professional dancer  swears by it as when she is on stage under the Kieg  lights normal makes just runs away  under the heat of the light but pro stage make up just stays in place

Got 2 B freeze spray is amazing, I have always had a problem with court shoes flapping about on my feet, just spray the sole of your foot and no more flapping!!

I used to wear wigs for work

Got2b gel, then spray got2b glued on it and mix together...use that to glue your wig down. I used to tie one of those black elastic bands around my head afterwards very tightly, left it for a bit, the wig would not move :)

Makeup wise I find double wear light is good coverage and doesn’t drip everywhere, urban decay setting spray, fenty blotting powder is excellent x

Wearing a wig would be absolute torture for me even on a cool day - I would think of ways of ditching them!

I find mineral powder foundations best for humid weather: I like Lily Lolo's. Use a bit of primer or tinted moisturiser underneath and if needed perhaps a spritz of fixing spray on top.

I'd have the fan on full blast to keep it all cooler.
I've worn wigs b4 it is quite uncomfortable in the heat .
I dont wear mascara anymore as it works it's way down my face everytime . Invest in either lash strips or lash extn if you fancy it . ;)

You can remove it at night easily, dab the edges with a warm damp flannel x
