Some men accept it and some don't. My experience is that you can never tell which it's going to be, or somewhere in the middle. My advice is to be honest with him but don't go into too much gory detail if you don't need to.

Hi,

I can understand why you would think a man with a jealous streak, would have major issues with this kind of work.

An interest of mine has no issue with this line of work, understands that it is work but that I also enjoy it... yet in a social situation, when approached by men, they will get the arse visibly. I think that is because firstly it is under their nose and secondly because the guy is not hitting on my work persona (though that is still me, no act) and the 'real' me.

Long term relationships and marriages can work whilst doing this work, if both parties act like adults. If you have been on/off a lot recently then I think you should be extra cautious in jumping in again too fast as it is different with this work IMO. Living with someone whilst doing this, they need to understand that your phone will ring and you will have to check emails. Whilst at times you will switch your phone off as you need some private time, that also occasionally it needs to be on when in the middle of eating etc as Client X can only call then etc.

I have done this boyfriend thing twice now, and each time slowly but surely I reduced working so I could spend more time with the boyfriend, eventually becoming increasingly dependent on him.

Then my work becomes an issue.

I think there are no rules to how to deal with these relationships, people are so complicated.

I don't think I would give up my work again.

I wish you so well with this.

Good luck sweety.

I have been married 18 years and my husband is fully supportive of me doing this as a job.  It helps us both financially and we have a strong and loving relationship.

If you let him know that the love is only for him and he is your number one, hopefully he will understand.

Inna is right, people are complicated - and we are all different so it's just a matter of talking with him and telling him honestly how you feel.

Best of luck x

Good luck honey!

It's nice to see that others are able to make relationships work with this job, it gives me hope. It didnt work for me and similar to inna I became dependant on my bf, I ended up giving up work completely. I now regret that decision as things went down the drain, now I have to start all over again :(
