To be honest, you guys, although we have lots of women around here who are brilliant at all technological things, this isn't really the best place to come unless your problem is specifically to do with an escort-related website or other work-related thing. Hence the Adultwork section, cos we are certainly well-equipped to answer ten thousand AW queries a year.
But if your computer isn't working, it really is better to take it to a professional who can have a look at it.
I know a fair bit about computers and the internet, though I'm no tech genius, but the last thing I want to spend my time doing is reading confusingly-worded descriptions of problems with random machines that I've never even seen in real life and then trying to actually fix those problems. Nightmare! You're better off Googling to find a techie forum, particularly one related to the hardware you're trying to get working or one with a section at least related to that sort of thing, and asking there cos it'll be full of geeks who enjoy nothing more than discussing confusing problems and offering helpful solutions.
I know this forum is a godsend when sex work is driving you out of your mind but there ARE other places and people on the internet (and even real life!). Good Google skills and being able to make an assessment of the websites that come up in the search results (are they likely to be reliable, do the people there seem mature and helpful, etc) are pretty much essential things these days. I can't actually remember the last time I had to ask someone a question because whether it's my wireless router acting up, or needing to find a branch of my bank, or wondering how to properly brew green tea, or finding out how much stamps actually cost these days, I just type in my question, scan the results, and end up knowing far more than I even wanted to.
I think creating, maintaining and updating a website is so much part and parcel of an escort's life now that questions about stuff like that should just go in the normal Q&A section. Things like Twitter and writing a blog shouldn't be complicated at all (although a sticky thread with people's Twitter names and blog links in the Babble section might be kind of cool and helpful for networking! I will look into that) so we could just compile a thread in the Articles section whenever people have queries about them and we'd end up with the material to write a comprehensive FAQ-type thing about it. Then if new questions pop up, the asker can be directed easily to the main Article thread or article on the main site if things get added or updated there.
