Title: Januhairy
Post by: Ginnie2018 on 09 January 2019, 06:44:49 pm
It's been in the news along with Ginanuary (yes please!) and Veganuary (ermm no!)

I'm shaved clean down below, but a client I've seen a couple of times has asked if I'd consider having a "bit of fluff". I don't for a moment think he was suggesting I go for the full Januahairy with hairy legs and armpits though :o

I do find being shaved easier and cleaner... I guess I am just musing out loud :)

Ginnie

Do what suits you with your body, not what you think might suit other people :)

I have no idea about the stupid names, but then I've been doing precisely the above since 2009 bar shaving my legs below the knee. Punters like it (especially the underarms) and the ones who turn white at the sight of an adult woman with some body hair can and presumably do go somewhere else.

Nor do I know why anybody would think scraping at your body with a metal blade makes it 'clean'. That would be washing properly and regularly with hot water and soap, and in the meantime the hair wicks sweat away from your skin (which is part of the reason it's there) and stops it from getting smelly and clammy. Do you have hair on your head, and if so is your head 'dirty'?

I'm the same as Amy - only shave my lower legs and have had armpit hair for a few years. Both my underarm and pubic hair is quite light and sparse though (I was blonde until I was about 10/11).

Shaving the pubic area actually increases the risks of infections because of nicks, ingrowing hairs etc. The only thing shaving does is mean you can't catch lice.

Human bodies are meant to have hair - there's nothing unhygienic about it!

I have a Brazilian strip of hair and 99% of my clients are always like “thank god for a bit of hair down there”. They said it’s so rare to see these days but they seem to love it

Same ere.

Beard below for the win.

Also pretty sparse underarm and never bothered shaving me pits after it made my skin like the side of a match box.

Thread my eyebrows because the fluf encroached further down the brow once I reached the other side of 40.

Having hair is cleaner than not having it. It also makes you smell better.
Advertising and marketing post 1980s led many to believe shaving is cleaner and as a result men
Finding it more desirable (not all thankfully).. believing that you feel more fresh and clean by being bald is nothing more than consumerism.
Many of us born in the 80s and before still came from sex, very hairy sex too.
i refuse to shave or wax anymore. Decades of stubble rash, uncomfortable itching, not to mention the
Darkening of the skin too where shaving damages the pigmentation,
If a guy tells me he prefers it shaven off then he can go elsewhere, it's taken me years to wear my body confidentially, my skin is fair and not made to be tampered with  :D

Yeah.  My body my rules :)
All interesting comments.
Though I will say I prefer my clients clean shaven as in not bearded /moustache. ;D

I don't shave on my days off.

I do require pubic hair and body hair to be removed for something I do in my private life, pubic only needs full removal for a short period of time and have found it takes so long to grow back I might as well stay fully shaved.

I do suffer with knicks no matter what I do, and waxing isn't an option.

Might have another growing back attempt.

Do it if you want to OP! If not, don't.

I'm very hairy naturally and have a brazilian as otherwise I find by 10am I've already sweated through two pairs of knickers. I also find receiving oral much better without hair - much more sensation.

I disagree.
I think hair under the arms looks horrible on a woman but it's a very personal choice. I always shave everywhere but I don't think there's anything wrong with hair down there I just personally prefer mine shaven.

I personally don't like the bald look so I keep some hair although like my legs when I'm on I don't bother. This works out great as one of my regs likes things hairy so he books me just before I shave. Pits I always shave as I find I sweat more with hair.

I have hair below although I do trim it back a little. The only person I keep my hair for is myself although I've never had any complaints and my clients do seem to love it. I once fell for the hype and shaved. Omg how uncomfortable not to mention ugly. So it's definately a no to ingrown hairs for me....

Can't stand hair aside from on my head and obviously a bit for the brows. Was asked once to grow my pubes but after a month I gave up. I prefer being bare even though I hate the upkeep. I could never not shave my pits or legs either. I think it looks vile but I do know older men prefer pubic hair on a woman as they can remember watching porn from the 70's and 80's when it was full bush. I can't stand the feeling of stubble and regrowth and have to shave everyday, it grows at such a rate. I'd be like a yeti if I didn't shave!

Agree with Scottish Emily
always shave armpits and wax the rest off.
I probably would wax even if I wasnt escorting. Hate pubic hair after getting it in my mouth doing owo.
Smooth is best.
If a client asked me to grow it I'd refuse.

So where do you stand on making rude, judgemental and sexist remarks about what other women choose to do with their bodies?

agreed it's bad enough having men judge us let alone colleagues.

fwiw i don't shave my pubes and have had one client complain in the 3.5 years i've ben working.

I've been out of action since before Christmas and I've reverted from shaved to bushy. It feels nice and natural so I'll probably keep it this way. I think a lot of people like the 'vintage' look so it could work in my favour :)

2019 and here we are feeling a need to justify whether we rid out bodies from hair. Sad really.

In terms of work - clients all have different tastes, whichever way you go there will be plenty of clients and quite honestly if a client's dealbreaker is whether I have pubes or not he can jog on!

I also have a problem with Januhairy- unless you are doing to raise a ton of money for charity then what on earth is the point?! Women's body hair shouldn't need awareness raising (such as something useful like having smear tests or checking your breasts) and it's not feminist to grow your hair just for a month to think you are making some sort of clever point!

Completely this^
I also don't like januhairy because I feel it is just adding more focus on cosmetics when body hair and cosmetics when this really shouldn't matter this much. Want a  bit of hair? So what? Want to be bald? So what? Want to grow a fuzzy forest? Also so what?

Regarding work - I  fairly recently changed my aw to unshaved and have had no difference in bookings. I really don't care if other people dislike my hair choices.  I'm kind of liking the look and have a weird "Well noone is complaining so what the hell was I worried about?" Even had a compliment in December.
I wear stockings to work and very rarely shave my legs anyway, the rare occasion a stocking rolls off I'm hoping my calves are not the focus.

Yes I remember them; and guess what, people were still Having sex!
If you choose to shave that's fine but don't make derogatory comments at those that do.
I mentioned it before, that being hairless is not cleaner, it is a marketing and advertising ploy designed to sell product.  It's consumerism.
It also makes women's genitalia look pre pubescent, which forgive me for finding creepy and not sexually attractive.
I feel the same about men's dicks. I am not attracted to a bald male genitalia at all. Especially when they shave the shaft to make it look an extra inch longer.... I do not give two hoots if you have extra length I just want your cash!

Breaking news. I've been with more younger men that love my unshaven couchie and I've had more of them then you have probably had hot dinners. I also had a 35 year old partner who asked me to grow my armpit hair because it turned him on sexually. Age is irrelevant.

That's good to hear HP. I just can't be bothered to shave anymore. It feels quite liberating to go natural again. Do you make a point of advertising your bush or do you not mention it? I'm wondering whether to make it a marketing feature to weed out those clients who prefer shaven.

I like to shave, I prefer it to be smooth, that's everywhere! Although I only do it every day if I'm working.

Clients shouldn't take issue either way, there is a bit on AW where you can put those details anyway. If someone wants something specific they should check when they book, can't complain otherwise.

I honestly prefer when a client has at least trimmed or better still shaved, not so much for sex but definitely for a BJ, even a HJ really. BJ's are so much simpler with nothing in the way  :-\ ;D

I mention that I have natural hair, and it's probably a selling point for me. In 4.5 years I've only once had someone ask me to shave it off.

Chocololic, there's definitely something for everyone! I used to love being shaven and smooth but I feel differently now. Perhaps I could change my name to the Wild Woman of Borneo!

Kay,that reminds me, a few years ago I'd been a week without shaving and a client asked to shave me. He really enjoyed it. I believe it's a fetish among some people. (Another marketing idea perhaps!)

My comment wasn't rude, judgemental or sexual.
It was my honest personal opinion like people might say "I think Brussel sprouts are disgusting."
That's all it was. If you took offence not my problem.

A Brussel sprout isn't a person with thoughts and feelings. Also the opinion you expressed was about a perfectly natural  part of the person.

To be fair its not very nice for someone on an escorts forum say "shaven looks creepy and not sexually attractive" We have enough of the general public thinking we're some sort of freaks from another planet simply for the the job we do, without other escorts judging our personal choice of pube fashion ffs!

I went for a full wax in Superdrug the other day (because I wanted it doing and they were advertising it, and they had an offer on) The girl was all 'ooh why do you want it doing, what made you decide to have full wax?' I found it really quite cheeky and rude.  (her questioning that is, not the wax lol)  ;D

You make a good point, there's criticism both ways here and it's wrong. Just because some people prefer it one way and we like it our way doesn't mean they are wrong.

I'm not sure I'm convinced about either choice being 'cleaner' either, surely cleanliness is about how often a person washes and not whether they choose to have hair or not!

No, it wasn't sexual and no one said it was. It was, however, sexist since you specified that you believe only women look 'horrible' with armpit hair and not that armpit hair is 'horrible' generally (therefore suggesting that you don't believe the same about armpit hair on men).

Describing a perfectly normal, natural part of the human body as such is most certainly rude, and we don't talk about people that way here. I'm surprised you don't know that.

As I said I can express my opinion.

Yes, you can. That does not necessarily mean you'll be expressing it on this forum.

I hate all the negative connotations associated with women who don't shave various body parts, I'm amazed if provokes such a strong reaction from people. I shave for work but hate hate hate when ive had time off and then having to shave a weeks worth of armpit hair off it feels like such a waste. Would never go back to fully shaving pubic hair, the ingrown hairs, the bleeding from having to do it everyday and trying to cover how sore it was up with make up wasn't worth it

If you are going to quote me make it correct. The quote was my opinion to my personal  tastes not a statement on behalf of all humans.. (I am bisexual and I do not like seeing what 'to me' looks like a prepubescent vagina) Which is a fact isn't it? - unless I am wrong and hair growth occurs pre pubescent?
My comment was in no way shape or form comparable to the OP's one at all.  To insinuate having pubic hair is unclean without backing it up with any facts is disrespectful. I apologise for using the term creepy but not for the rest, because being bald looks the same as a prepubescent one on the hair fanny scale of life!

As much as I find the removal of body hair unecessary and unpleasant, this tired old chestnut about how an adult will suddenly resemble a ten year old just by whipping their pubes off has really got to go. I'm forty six and my body looks like an adult woman's no matter what I do to it; anybody who thought otherwise would have to be either blind, stupid or both. There are cultures all over the world where body hair is removed.

Any more of this tedious, stupid squabbling and I'm locking the thread. It's nobody's business what anybody else does with their body and if people can't comment without having a pop at those who do things differently then it's not continuing.

I'm hairy and have been since I was 17. I never ever shave my underarms or pussy, but sometimes do my legs and bikini line. I use it as my USP and earn bank from it. It's not a novelty for me, I don't even think about it anymore. I shaved my underarms for some content I was doing (I do shaving movies) and I didn't recognise myself in the mirror.

When I go out clubbing or sit on the beach people ask me about it, but it's more out of curiosity than spite. Women can be a bit harsh and my sister once told me it makes her feel sick. I can live with that. I think it's hot.
