EE and my Job
« on: 23 February 2016, 11:05:50 pm »
I'm still cringing. I had to go to EE today as my tablet isn't working and the guy I saw was adorable. I already had my story planned when he saw my browser history but he still asked what my job was :o I said I cammed and waited for the horrified expression but he was actually really, really, cool but struggled to keep a straight face ;) We had a good chat about the industry but I still wasn't brave enough to tell him that I'm actually an escort. It's one thing to declare it to HMRC but quite another to confess to someone who is sitting right next to you :o

Anyway, good job he was nice as I have to see him again tomorrow. My tablet still isn't working  :-[

It can be amusing to see the reaction of people when you tell them your a prostitute, but some people can turn really unp!easant so I don't do it anymore.

This reminds me of what happened to me last week.

Out of the blue my Apple computer died. It had been giving me problems for a while and this was like... a sudden death. Of course I had not backed up my stuff (Duh!). So I take it to my local laptop repair store - run by 3 Arab guys- and they're kind of nasty to me. Nonetheless I leave them my laptop (cause they've repaired stuff for me in the past and they're pretty good and I'm there to get my shit repaired not to make friends). My laptop has like 20 folders with 800 files of me naked, professional pictures, dirty selfies, all my ads etc. You can imagine. I went to pick it up 2 days ago they were all smiling and very very nice to me. Needless to say they went through all the naked pictures folders (they were open). So I might become the next free porn star who knows.

Moral of the story: Don't do like me. Keep all your "compromising" stuff in the Cloud or in a USB or small external hardrive. :FF

When BT came to upgrade my broadband, they grabbed my laptop to check the wifi was working. That was before I stopped Google displaying frequently visited websites. I've not a clue if they noticed, but what exactly are they going to do about it?They were there to do a job.

I've also submitted laptops and PCs to a local IT firm to fix, never had a problem come of it, and why should there be?I'm a customer and also entitled to my privacy.

I'd be worried they've taken copies of my photos and put them on the web. If my laptop breaks down I keep hold of if and buy a new one. I've just brought one last month after my previous one died on me. My brother said "Oh you can give the old one to your niece she can take it and get it fixed...OMG I can imagine her surprise when she gets it back from the repairers.

I once took my PC in to be repaired & the guy kept looking at his feet when I went to pick it up, another guy out the back stared really hard at me. This was after it died & wiped all it's data (blue screen) but I'm worried they lied & saw stuff on there. Told me they couldn't recover the data & it needed a new hard drive. I felt so sick the whole time it was there, not worth the stress. Now I'll only get a friend to fix it who knows what I do. always worry about guys copying stuff.

My laptop mike stopped working and as it was still under warranty, I went to the service centre to get it fixed. It occurred to me when I was there that I probably would need to leave it with the guys for them to sort it out. Not having backed up my pictures, I promptly left as I did not want to leave my laptop with them for fear of them seeing, or eve worse, copying my pics. Got a new webcam with a mike instead. Problem solved.

A famous Asian star made headlines years back when he sent his laptop for repair and the employees at the shop made copies and leaked his private pictures online. Like Helen, I think I would rather buy a new one then give it to a bunch of boys to repair.

Been all these places over the years!  ::)

Now thankfully got an absolute angel who just comes in, bats not an eyelid at the stuff on my computer, we giggle about my previous experiences with the nosy fuckers who go through your files AND EVEN COMMENT ON THEM "you have some interesting photos on your computer". At least have the diplomacy to keep your trap shut. They were told in no uncertain terms that they were there to fix my computer not perve over my shit.   :FF

I heard lots of stories throughout the years when these guys actually went through people's data making fun of their customers.  Not nice.  Personally I would never leave my stuff with anyone but would prefer to pay extra for somebody to visit me at home and repair my stuff with me near him.  Can you really trust a complete stranger?

I think there are plenty of independent tech guys who will do housecalls if you simply explain that your computer contains sensitive data.

The downside is that in a small town you may not want someone local.
