Intimate Care Products

Girls,

I've recently been using FemFresh but it has irritated me.

A nurse told me, years ago, that fresh running water was best but I don't find it enough sometimes, especially after a 4 hour drive to a tour destination!

I know we all have a 'natural' smell but I become obsessed with whether I'm clean or not. It doesn't happen during the working day as when I'm active I don't find any issues.

What products do you use?

Yep, it's fine to scrub your crotch and bum with a gentlish shower gel or soap, but around your actual vulva, you should only use water or aqueous cream.

You can get some very gentle, natural bars of soap, or Vagisil, Canefresh and Soft & Gentle all do 'feminine' intimate washes that are meant to be gentler than standard shower gels. I also like the Sanex Zero products and you can get other products aimed at people with skin conditions.

Recently I've been using Femfresh Ultimate Care Soothing Wash - pretty nice and a bit gentile than your basic femfresh but I try to avoid using it every shower.

I could be wrong but does Femfresh not have a little perfume in it?
I use only two products down below, either Sanex Zero or a gentle wash meant for babies, I reckon if it is mild enough for newborn skin it won't harm me at all.
What I do not do is put any kind of cleanser inside, I douche my rear end but not my vagina. After washing I smooth lightly perfumed oil or lotion at the top of my legs and on my bum.

Femfresh has sodium laureth sulfate in it, just like any other shower gel. That's why it bubbles up. SLS is a detergent. It's primary purpose is to make water more wet by breaking down the ionic surface tension of water so that ingredients can reach the surface being cleaned more easily and rinse away more easily. Detergents can be useful for breaking down proteins and fats in cells, if that's what you want to do... but it means that it is irritating to mucous membranes.

I don't allow detergents to touch my mucous membranes, which means that I don't let it on my vagina or inner labia. It's fine for my outer crotch area and bum area.

I think Femfresh is a misleading product that encourages consumers to think that it can be used inside the vulva.

You don't need to use soap on the vulva. At most a bit of water to rinse away lube, the latex taste of the last condom, etc. But any odor produced by the body is caused by bacteria and washing that with soap will only set up an unbalance of the good to bad bacteria.

That's all I use if I feel the need. You can also get it when you go for your screenings. Generally you should avoid using anything especially perfumed products.

If I'm worried thrush is coming on I use multi gyn gel which is brilliant.

What Fabulassie said.

However, If you don't "feel" clean without washing with something, the green clear simple face wash uses a gentler one called Cocamidopropyl Betaine, and also is unscented.

Femfresh is perfumed isn't it? I've never used it because I think it would just mask any smells... I remember it used to be quite expensive but it now appears in all the pound shops  ;D

I just use simple soap, not perfumed not coloured just gentle and kind for delicate bits  :)

I was told by a medical professional never to use Femfresh unless I wanted an irritated vagina as it would definitely kick off something like Thrush. It is a very misleading product I feel. I was also told to use Aquaeous cream to wash with, not that I have though, I don't think I'd feel clean n fresh enough. I use Sanex. I also use Balance Active for any BV occurrences n after certain bookings to make sure there's no bacterial issues. I always do an anal enema before any bookings using just water then an external wash with Sanex and I never squirt water up my pussy!
