I think prostitution, for me was the best of a bunch of shit options. I just wish I'd asserted myself more sooner, put up more boundaries with who I would and wouldn't see, and I wish I could get back some of those 50%s I gave to some greedy ass Madames who still let guys into their brothels who were obviously diseased, dirty, hit the women, and stealthed. I wish I went indie sooner, basically. 

The majority of madams and brothel owners aren’t exactly nice people are they, it’s so damn wrong to make money off of people sleeping with other people and if you were going to do it then the least you would expect is that they would make sure you don’t have to put up with crap but they don’t give a shit and the brothels I worked in where you would get a quite nice boss then it was dead which speaks volumes about some of the clients that frequent these places.

Yes and no, I learned some valuable information from brothels that I never would’ve known about going straight to indie, we have this site but nothing beats the girls being there in front of you to lend you advice etc etc.

It was a bit of a conundrum for me because I wouldn't have been confident to start sex work as an indie I don't think (but I was 18 when I started) so brothels were an entry in that felt safe. But looking back I could have gone indie and done a lot of internet research such as on this forum but then again I didn't own a personal computer until after I started sex work, so. There is so much more available information these days.

If it were based purely on financial and freedom, I definitely would have. But if I did, I would never have had my son, never would have had a nutcase ex to break away from, wpuld never have moved home to a completely new area and would never have met my current partner, who is the absolute love of my life and most perfect person for me. I am now very happy with my kids and my partner. None of thay would have happened if I started in this industry earlier in life.

So y'know, that's how I view things!

TT, please consider taking a class or two and follow your desires. The worst that can happen is you really like learning and continue working towards a great goal. Our career gives us flexibility to study and take classes, plus many unis offer online courses now. Not as interesting as going to class with others, but hopefully things get better by the time the more interesting classes begin.  I went to school while working (long story) and it was really great to have intellectual stimulation, learn with others, and fulfill a life goal.  Escorting will always be there for you, but no time like now to start a goal.
