I hate the world cup
« on: 18 June 2010, 07:18:20 pm »
Apart from being boring, it seems that all the men are saving up for all night drinking benders in the pubs with their mates.

Any one else finding it slow or just me?

Just seen a client during the match...he had it on the TV in the background. There can't be many people who get to watch the world cup at work! Would rather have been watching Spain though, as that Casillas is a bit of a dish.

I love football and am getting increasingly frustrated at the amount of work I'm turning down when I really wanted a quiet week - I missed the Argentina and Mexico games yesterday because I had a long appointment and have turned six down today - I've had more emails from Adultwork in the last twelve hours than in the last two weeks put together.

I'm being stricter over the weekend since I'm fed up of missing everything. That said, I don't rate the England games as any more important than the others and wouldn't have particularly minded working this evening if any of the punters had sounded like people worth missing it for. They didn't, though  ;D.

Im new and have just started advertising.

I got bunches of emails from losers I would never meet the first couple days but nothing at all today.

Hoping I get some from some real potentials soon. First I was nervous....now im impatient lol.

They must have been really bad :)

Apart from the England two and two other games, I've been very glad to be only watching the highlights programmes.

Postponed tour because of WC. First day it started I was in Ireland, the phone DID NOT ring! So, I see no point in being there until things have started to move towards the finals. But yes, it is making men forget pussy.
Up side, I get to eat red, white, blue and orange M&Ms. They are made special of the WC to support the Team Orange . Who won today, by the way. Hup Hup Holland! :)

Ach, they probably weren't, but I can't bear dithering and I make it clear that any same day appointments have to be arranged by 12. One emailed me at 8am but then didn't bother getting back to me until half five so I said sorry but tough, and the other one just sounded like a bit of a knob and besides, I couldn't be bothered to shave my legs. Given the woeful display on the pitch, I was possibly a little hasty, but as Violette said there's been some good stuff today to make up for it and I'm currently on my sixth match in two days. And there's another three tomorrow! :D

I honestly haven't noticed work being any different to usual - I've had a a usual-sort-of week with five bookings including a long one, and have turned down loads including the requisite TWs and non-readers. Maybe the answer is to put 'Limited Availability During World Cup' on the ads - it seems to be working over here.

HELL YEAH. I don't mind football, bit business is slow.

The best tip I can give you is to do some naughty shots for your website of you holding just footballs and wearing England bikini. I'm doing a shoot on monday wearing just an England flag draped over me!! I'm doing the same for Wimbledon, and thinking of pre-shooting my Christmas ones at the same time (Harrods have re-opened their Christmas department already!) with some artfully placed baubles.

Anyone else have some divine inspiration?

I've got sunshine, on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside I've got the month of May.

Good tip! I have pics on my blog in World Cup outfit.

Manchester is pretty rubbish but don't think it is to do with the World Cup. I'm off to Southampton today and have plenty booked in so fingers crossed.

Yeah I hate it too! It is one of the reasons why I've held off my relaunch until the start of Autumn, as I was hit hard last time :(

Friday was quiet for me but aside from that no difference I have to say.

Don't watch football and don't even have a clue as to who is playing when although I do note when England are playing!

I love the World Cup and I've been able to watch most of the matches. I was in Greece for a booking the first weekend, so I did miss a couple but I watched the Greece and the England matches with my client with Greek commentary. It's been very quiet since I got back but the football has been great! Bloody Wimbledon has started now though, which I also love, so not sure how am going to manage.

I'm touring at the moment, and I think that's probably why I'm not particularly struggling to get clients. Perhaps try somewhere new where the novelty might attract them away from the tv? :)
