I agree I don’t think anyone actually wants to do sex work that much the benefits (money) outweigh the negatives for some people. I doubt many people with a good paying job and reasonable hours would chose to escort. I do it because I’d only be able to get a minimum or not very well paid job.

For me prostitution is one of those jobs that, if you are choosing it and have some control over your work its fine, but if you really don’t want to do it and have not much control over your work thenit can be one of the most horrible things in the world. Because that’s sex for you. Sex is great if you want it, or fine if you don’t mind having it. But it’s dehumanising and painful if you do it because you feel you can’t not or it’s somewhere on the spectrum of being against your will. There have been women I’ve met in this industry in the former category and women I’ve met, sadly, in the latter. 

I definitely had my worst experiences at brothels. You don’t have an realistic ability to say to say no to anybody that comes in, that can be potentially traumatising.

Yes, I worked in nice well ran brothels with decent enough owners but the fact just anyone can walk in and the prices tend to be a bit on the lower side (one near me does half an hour for 45 so the girl must get about 30 for a half hour booking! 90 an hour is the going rate at many too) you get more undesirable clients you would never see independent like poor English speakers or men with an entitled attitude, I found in brothels you get a higher percentage of clients that were rude and boundary pushing never satisfied etc etc than you do independently and you earn less money and often have to compete for work on shifts that have been over booked or have too many girls on leaving some with barely any work. It's a good option if you can't incall or make much out calling though. I used to work a place you would choose your own hours and days it was really good no long shifts if you didn't want it. If I ever parlour worked again I'd probably go there, they told me I was welcome back anytime so I'm glad it's an option.

Do you have anything stopping you from seeking a well paid job? Have you fully tried and committed to it?
I know a few sex workers who quit and become successful at something else. Took time and effort though.

I love sex work. Some of us are genuinely drawn to it.
Although I rarely do full service ! There's a lot of ways to make money as a sex worker without penetration and oral.

Exactly this. I caught another episode where a woman was going down the gym & her partner was controlling & abusive so she didn't go. It's a good series if you want to learn about the tactics of abusive men/people. Although the camera angles & jerky movements are very off-putting.
