I think many clients/timewasters are stressed and they lose the ability to think straight and converse rationally at this time of year.  The SAD season brings out the worst.  I have had lots of ridiculous texts too.  It has got to the point I don't even answer them.  If it is a day off then this needs to be respected.

Quite why they think we have no life of our own or human need for relax and recreation and no lifestyle of our own is beyond comprehension.
