Hotel hullabaloo - for giggles

Anyone want to share some funny things that have happened in hotels..

Having a Miranda Hart moment this week. I've managed to check into a place with building works, no warning on their website & wasn't told at reception either, Typical. So builders banging starts mid booking with a lunch time booking, puts the poor guy off. I get out of the shower & the lights go off, trip over my shoes but thankfully save my fall. Call reception to get lights back on on then the hair dryer goes kaput! Frizzy wet hair with next client. Can hear all the conversations from the adjoining room so have to keep it on low profile in the pm with spotify playing loudly in the background. Finally move rooms to get away from the banging then as I'm blowing a client, a chambermaid walks past the bay window. I then realise the cleaning cupboard is next door. How embarrassing, she must have had a good view of my bumhole  :-[ thankfully the lights were off.

Well dunno about hullabaloo.......but nightmare hotels yes.

I was in a hotel in Bognor Regis a couple of years ago.  What I didn't realise when I booked it was that it was very popular with parties of OAPs who had VERY loud 1950s/1960s discos nearly every night.  When I say loud I mean, earth trembling.

The hotel also had a terrible layout, small old fashioned rooms (think 1970s decor) and cleanliness was not exactly top of the agenda.  There was a tiny tiny reception, bascially I had to go fetch clients from the front of the hotel otherwise they'd have been horribly lost/or found out.

The other thing was, it was stifling hot, in mid 30s or above.  No air con, no fans!  And with windows open you could hear everything from the other rooms.  One night I overheard what was either consensual sub/dom play or something more sinister.  The woman sounded really distressed so I reported it to reception,  They went up and apparently it was consensual but I still wasn't convinced.  At any rate I asked to be moved as they were so loud.  So I moved rooms (for the second/third time) at around 10.30 that night...

Another thing the hotel website neglected to mention was that every summer they host, on their lawns a music festival! The weekend I was there......I actually left 2 nights early because of this.

This seemed like real Fawlty Towers to me!

I once checked into one of my regular hotels and got the perfect room in the perfect location only to wake up on my last full day to find they're replacing the hallway carpet right outside my door :(. There were two men with toolkits and stinky carpet glue on their hands and knees feet away from me virtually the whole day and it's one of the few times I've given up until evening (it had been a good trip up until then so I wasn't that bothered).

I also once dropped a water glass and sliced through my thumb trying to grab it as a punter was on his way up in the lift; thankfully it was a regular who didn't mind waiting whilst I patched myself up but I was terrified for the whole time I hadn't got all the bits of glass and somebody would step on it.

I also once lost my work phone when it fell down the back of the bed after I'd put it on silent so I could have a nap and ended up standing outside the hotel waiting for a regular to arrive because I couldn't find it anywhere (again, thankfully it was somebody I knew :)). We found it eventually but it took turning the room upside down - I think I'd just got back from New York and was so tired I didn't even remember putting it down.

That's not including the times I've locked myself out, forgotten which room I was in, got lost in the corridors ;D.

Well here's one that shocked me, I arrived at a very very dated hotel, massive though, but not stylish at all...the receptionist v grumpy looking face just stared at me and I said "oh hello I'm checking in" she answered with " well that's not 'till 2" ...so I said "ooh that's a lovely greeting, I thought you might have one ready so just arrived a little early" I can be a bit well, very sarcastic , if someone's rude because I'm just not.

Anyway she said "oh sorry ( didn't look it) you'll have to wait in the bar" at that point I'm thinking shit , tiny square reception on door, pounced on by her , hotel looks empty ...car clamp signs in car park etc.......shit shit shit ..then " hi are you ok your rooms ready" much nicer to me so I said I'd prefer to look at it first thinking I'll just have to turn it down..anyway she came with me, massive dated room , so I thought I won't have it , ok I can't believe this but here goes..........I then said "sorry I don't think this place is going to suit me as I have visitors" WTF !!! Can't believe it popped out think I thought she'd say ok then ......she said "no matter" I said "what they can come and go ok and what about cars etc clamp signs" she just said"don't worry it's all fine the cars don't get clamped they're old signs" I said ok cheers ,so your sure ? she just was really nice and said don't worry told her I'd give her a tip and she tried to refuse when I did couple of days later but it was Christmas so I said just treat yourself.

Didn't really work though but didn't lose ,mainly because the room was huge but not at all my style and place filled with contractors so I didn't put the postcode in just answered regular callers and I told them what I'd done on the phone before booking and they laughed at me ,they know me well enough to know it was totally out of character plus they laughed again when they saw the room !! When I left I said "cheers for that I appreciate it she said " no problem and happy Christmas !!! I'm definitely not advising that little sentence that popped out of my mouth but hey just shows ....some really just don't care !!!!

Seriously must start using paragraphs properly I just get in a flow !!!!
